    The reports said the type of crash he was in,not much can be done to prevent it.He went driver's side up flying into the catch fence.

    Exactley, and that happens in any form of open wheel racing,same exact type of crash that took Rich Vogler in a midget.Any part of a drivers body makes contact with a chain link fence and its gonna tear something off. Wouldn't have mattered if he was going 225 mph or 125 mph ,you jump a wheel and your going airborne.

    and prior to that, Jerry Blundy in a USAC sprint at the old Lincoln Speedway, now Eagle.....Then years later, my pal, Larry Lape losing a leg at Huron, Billy Rook on the back chute fence at Husets, and a lot more who's names I can no longer remember...
