We're going to be taking a road trip from KC to Pennsylvania, I-70 all the way across the upper mid-west. Anyone know of any "do-not-miss" sights along the way? Coming back we may swing south through a bit of the Appalachian's to see some different country. Just looking for ideas to break up the drive a bit.
Have you ever been to Wright-Patterson Air Force base? It's right outside Dayton, Ohio off I-70. Quite a museum.
It's been years since I travelled that route, but this time of year the scenery should be fantastic.
I'll be heading to IL the end of this month, but be using I40-I35.
Yep---stop at Wright Pat AFB for the museum----admission is free and you can spend a day there!!!!just the nose art on the planes is worth the stop--take extra batteries for camera because it isn't lit brightly enough for three or four hundred pics---was there in june and took 173 pics just in one building!!!!
And WP is just a little south of I70 east side of Dayton
I've been to the Wright Patt museum 4 times---and would love to go there 4 more times!!!!!
Lots of good race shops and a museum or two around Indy, too.
Where in PA are you headed to? Lots to see, some areas to avoid (due to construction).

Ok,not much to do in Shippensburg proper,however Gettysburg National Battlefield would be a two or three day+ tour, Hershey (just outside Harrisburg) and the surrounding areas are nice. Bethlehem/Allentown has a bunch of tourist type places, same goes for Jim Thorpe. Tons of wineries in NE PA and up in the Catskill area (Monticello area). Beware that there is construction on the PA Turnpike and the PA northeast extension. Expect delays even if it does not rain. Anything specific you two are interested in, let me know.....After all, your in my neck of the woods (metaphorically speaking that it)......Quote:

To me Gettysburg alone is worth the trip. Awsume place lots to see.. If nothing else go to the battle field and tower.
You could hit The Indy Speedway mesuem. Williamsburg is a pretty neat vist,just a word of advice,don't go to the visitor center and pay the big money for tickets.You can go to the business district side and walk thru for free,you just can't go thru the buildings. Also you could hit Conners prarie just out of Indy.

like many have said wright patterson museum is really something to see one day there and you would be lucky to see 1/2 of the stuff they have there. just do not pull up to the base main gate and ask to see were they keep the little green men
