Vir.got hit with wide spread power outages. The personal stories never get news coverage for the the most part.It is a shame that those sound bites of news most on where the after effects are still very real to those who are living then right now.
I sure wish Barb would check in..................
Just been watching the news, and it doesnt look good in some areas..Prattsville is under water..Where in the state is that??Isnt there a regular member on here who lives in Prattsville??Just cant think who it is..
I would think, that if Virginia got walloped hard,Barb will not have power..but it is unnerving, not knowing,or not being able to do anything..How much of Irene did Florida get??
i am back. we really got hit hard. wind howled at 60 + for over 6 hours. power lines down everywhere with trees on top of them. we did not get alot of damage at my house. tore my trees apart but i learned along time ago living in virginia to not plant anything too close to our house. lost power for 28 hours and then the internet took a couple of hours longer to come back on because it tore of our fiber optic cable. the monte is fine. we had a small neighbor party where we all broke out our grills and cooked everything in our freezers before it spoiled. very good eating. after the power went out saturday night charlie and i got dressed in our rain gear and went out to play a little. really makes you feel alive to be standing in the rain and tasting salt water with the winds. a state trooper stopped by and asked us very nicely to go back inside so that he does not have come back later to come find us. thank you all for the concern. it was a really wild ride.
good to see that you are ok .yep them cops know how to stop all the fun
thanks pat and yes they do. :)
Hey Barb, good to hear you and yours came through the ordeal ok!!!!!! Good having you back!
What all the others said:LOL:..... why weren't we all invited to the cook out.??
thanks guys. it really was a great cook out. plenty of steaks and scallops with ice cold beer. milk by the gallons. i love living in a small town.
i would also like to add that if it was not for georgia, kentucky, alabama, and south carolina chipping in with their power companies i was facing a week without lights. to all of those men and women that risked life and limb to help virgina i send a heart felt thank you.
Good to see you back,Barb..Must have been a bit scary, with all the wind for several hours..Sounds like a good little party,,Steaks and scallops, and ice cold beer..what more could you want??(bourbon:D) Welcome home..Glad to hear that montes ok..Good thing ya werent in upstate New York..Speaking of which..has anyone seen/heard from IC2 today??I only just got on here, havent looked yet..
i am worried about ic2 also. hopefully it is just a power outage keeping him from signing in.
Yup..could be..Dont know exactly where he lives..
Its matt167,who lives in Prattsville..Hope his feet are above the waterline..Didnt like what I saw on tv this morning..
was just looking at photos coming out of the north east. horrible.
Good to hear that most of the folks in your area, including you, survived with minimal damage, Barb.
