Tell me this doesn't upset you

Like Dave said this is nothing new, and we are stuck with politicians who think special interest is "free meal ticket" The level it has risen to is appalling. Every day at work in the maternity unit, I'm amazed at the number of illegal aliens having kids free on our dime. People just accept this is o.k. We have third generation crack head/ welfare families, that purposely get pregnant early, to avoid working. I think Dave is also right, we need to start defending our borders, kicking out illegals. Here in california, people have come up with the lame thought that what we we do without illegals to do all the manual labor, my answer is hire somebody here legally who wants work and a better life. It's sad because it's not going to get better, and like Bob said, the needy will soon outway those who are providing for their needs.
I registered my new used car this last week. a ten thousand dollar car cost 1,148.00 to register. Mind you this is a used car, taxes already paid once on it. I asked the AAA guy what the 15 different fees were. He said it was voted illegal to raise the taxes on registration, so they made new fees. One fee and I am not making this up, was a DUI fee. I asked what that was for, and he just shrugged! It's got to end somewhere, and I'm thinking keeping the powder dry is a dang good idea!

I don't know that I'd subscribe to a military coup, but it is conceivable that the producers will slowly tire of being taken advantage of and quit working as hard. In part I believe that's why this non-declared recession continues to drag on. The producers don't really know what's in store for them, except that they know they are repeatedly demonized and targeted.....................not exactly a motivating environment.

This is a situation about 75 years in the making, if you've ever heard the story about boiling a frog you get the picture. This post is an example of why it's going to be virtually impossible to fix (and I like to think of myself as optimistic, but in a realistic way). There is no silver bullet problem, or solution. It's layer upon layer upon layer of seemingly reasonable ideas that are well intentioned but turn out badly. Only the unique circumstances of post WWII demographics have masked the inevitable outcome.

Last year alone there were over 80k pages of NEW regulations imposed or proposed...............that's in JUST one year............stacked on top of all the tens of thousand that preceded them. The Federal tax code alone is over 70k pages.............that's 70 THOUSAND, for one dept. alone. And in that 80k for last year that didn't include a single page resulting from Obamacare, or the Dodd-Frank financial hoo-ha. Those are each over 2000 pages that set the groundwork for tens of thousands more pages of regulation, and establish bureaucracies to implement/enforce them. The politicians heap all this stuff on, create problems, blame others, and then the sheep run to the politicians expecting them to fix the problems that the politicians caused. How's that for being gullible? And if a politician makes a sincere proposal to somehow fix these entrapping programs he is demonized by his opposition and a dishonest media.

Those with good survival instincts will survive one way or the other, but the young people today have been sold down the river with debt, and constrictions on their life choices................and most have been so propagandized that they don't even have a clue. Enjoy what you can while you can.

Very good points, Uncle Bob!!! ---and the payroll to keep all these bureaucrats on federal, state, county, and local government payrolls has to be a phenomenal dollar number as well!!!!! How many programs, studies, research facilities, and government agencies been established just to justify hiring more and more employees are established annually?? Maybe the governments intention is to hire all of us so that we will become good little bureaucrats and keep our mouths shut to preserver our government paycheck??? Who knows what these clowns in DC are up to, anyway other then piling up debts that can never be paid???

As long a politicians can vote themselves pay raises and whatever other entitlements, they will try to stay in office. They will do that by giving gifts to enough of the public to keep getting the votes they need. It won't end until either the money runs out or they rest of the people stand up and say enough.

Time for all the working people to move somewhere and form a new country WITH NO WELFARE for deadbeats. Maybe Texas would like to be a country again.

I'm reminded of a book that I read many years ago as a young man, and which I have re-read two or three times over the years titled "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand. Now I'm not a supporter of Ms Rand's objectivism views, but the story of Atlas Shrugged always intrigued me, more for the re-building of our society from the ground up by one innovative engineer focused on making a difference than the failure. The question, "Who is John Galt?" rings throughout the book as the world economy grinds to a halt at an increasing pace. Think I may have to start it again - it's been ten years or so since I last read it....

It's not a coincidence that the book has enjoyed a significant revival in the past few years, and a saliant observation on your part.

Another book that I read at about the same time some 45 years ago that I've found applicable over and over again is Orwell's "Animal Farm". A nice easy read but packed with "aha!" info. Though, similar to your comment about not being in total alignment with Rand's beliefs, I don't share Orwell's confidence in "democratic socialism" (the book was an allegory on the Soviet style of Communism) I find it a thoroughly informative story about human nature as it plays out in real life rather than theory. The most important observation is how the self annointed "leaders" always evolve from "All animals are equal" to "All animals are equal...........but some animals are more equal than others!". As noted in some of the posts previously, our politicians make all manner of laws and regulations in the name of equality, though they often insulate themselves from any negative results. "Animal Farm" is a book all should read.........among others.

Atlas Shrugged has to be one of the all time greats. I re-read it a couple of years ago too...it's timeless.

The United Counties of Texas. Sort of has a nice ring to it, don't you think. Wouldn't it be fantastic if this were to happen. Us conservatives have long needed our own place to be, a place free of the out-of-control socialist agenda of our lawmakers. A place where, if you work, you eat. If you don't want to work, then either leave Texas or die like a dog in the street. No government assistance of any kind. You want health care, work and pay for it yourself like I have done for the past 50 years. Don't want to work and pay for your own health care? Fine, die like a dog in the street. You want a nice piece of land and a nice home? Work for it or live in a cardboard box. If you squat on someone else's property without paying rent, the property owner has the right to have the authorities round you up, tie you to a pole and cane you. Don't like being caned? Get a job and buy or rent some property or leave Texas. Good riddance.

Any person found with illegal drugs in their posession will be dispatched on the spot.
Many years ago, I was in the Waffle House having breakfast and struck up a conversation with the fellow on the next stool. A native of a middle-eastern country, he was in this country on vacation. I asked him how they handled their drug problem. He said that they didn't have a drug problem. When I asked why, he explained that he was a police officer in his home country. He said that if he encountered anyone with illegal drugs in their posession, that he was mandated by law to pull his service pistol and dispatch the individual to the promised land right then and there. Result: NO DRUG PROBLEM.

Richard, you're getting my radical side up as I would extend that to thieves as well. I like the old west way of doing things, catch a horse or cattle thief, hang 'em on the spot. I'm also in favor of public executions. Hang 'em on the public square at high noon. I've said this a million times, I believe that a lot of society's problems can be laid at the feet of one man, Dr. Benjamin Spock.

I agree with public hangings. Find 'em guilty on Wednesday, have 'em stretching a rope on Saturday morning.

I'd say Friday afternoon. Saturday I like to take time off, when I can. :LOL:
