Seems that at least a couple of times a year we are hearing stories like this. I wonder whether it’s just makes the stories more available to everyone or the national stolen car data base is really having an impact on recovering some of these cars.
"......he should be able to go back on the seller on ebay......."
It's hard to tell without all the facts, but chances are the E Bay seller also bought the car in good faith
On the one hand it makes you glad the original owner is reunited with his old ride, but somewhere along the line someone is usually out a bunch of money and chances are it is NOT the guy who stole the car in the first place but rather someone who bought and got what appeared to be clean paperwork on it. .
I always make it a point to get a clear buildable title on my projects prior to starting the build but if it already comes with paper all I normally have to do is title transfer and usually doesn’t require a DMV inspection of the vehicle. In my case the “cheap” part of the build is normally the purchase of the car or truck itself. I know I’d be really POed is I ended up building a car for someone else for free.Last edited by Mike P; 05-13-2011 at 05:59 PM.
I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....
