Seems to be like 'ol Bil (Skakespeare, not Mustag) said, "Much ado about nothing."
The new format does the same things in a little different manner, what's the big deal anway? Seems if people really wanted to support the forum and the people that frequent it they would make the most of it and not take every opportunity of "where's so and so" to turn it into a rant against Brent. Got a problem with Brent, pm or email him. Seems that might do the forum and it's members more good then post lamenting a change in layout.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Dave,
I share a lot of your sentiments, and I surely did not intend my initial post to turn into another "...rant against Brent..." as you put it, and I for sure was not trying to "stir the pot" because I truly do not see that the changes are a big deal - my opinion, my experiences, and not on any soap box about it. My only agenda was a sincere concern about not seeing Ken here, and wondering if anyone had been in contact with him. In hindsight I should have sent him a PM or e-mail vs posting
Sorry guys & gals, it will not happen again from my keyboard
Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

I find nothing wrong with your posts, in fact if it gets people to stop and think (good or bad), I'm all for it (as a mod, not as an owner, which I am not). Free speech is a wonderful thing until one person attacks another for his views. When it becomes personal, that is when the balance between free speech and common sense must be weighed and actions taken (no matter who posts). So far, since the change over, I do not believe I've really had to intervene in anything that crosses that line. I for one thank all of you for that.
In closing, Brent does work a full time job, and does have a family, so if he does not respond to your emails and PM's in what you believe is a timely manner, send me a PM and I'll point him towards the thread/post in question if it is something I cannot assist with.
Sincerely,
Bill S.
PS: (Edit): Since the change, post count has gone up, not down, just thought I would clarify that

Probably because 50% of the new posts are people complaining about the new format.
(Sorry, Bill, I couldn't stop myself
)
I know this may not rank up there with solving world hunger, but evidently it IS important on some level to some of us longtime members. And, as I said, my true concern is for the longterm good of the forum..........I would hate to see anything hurt what was once so very good.
BTW, I was curious about the definition of the word forum. Here is what the dictionary says:
a. The public square or marketplace of an ancient Roman city that was the assembly place for judicial activity and public business.
b. A public meeting place for open discussion.
c. A medium for open discussion or voicing of ideas, such as a newspaper, a radio or television program, or a website.

As stated earlier, I've sent off a copy of the link to his private email address. I know he will read it and this thread when he has a few minutes of time to do so. Upgrades take time (they are not automatic point and click like on your computers), options and tweaks take time, all I ask as a mod is that those long time members who feel that change is bad is to give it some time, do not give up just because you must change your bookmarks. Like changing the style of air cleaner on your street rod, changing of the forum software can be a tedious affair until just the right balance of form (looks) and function (proper air flow) is achieved.
