"No more Catfish!!"
For the second time in about two months I went to a restaurant to eat catfish and there was none. Looking on the web there seems to be a shortage due to the farmers switching to corn and the price of feed is running some of the raisers out of business. I don't know about the rest of you guys but in the south catfish is a staple. This is just another side effect of corn based fuel!

No shortage in this area- - - so far that is !
I've gotten hooked on "blackened" instead of the standard "fried" version !.

Chicken Express is where I was last night. They had a sign saying they had discontinued selling catfish. I have not tried Babes yet. The other place I tried was "Stumpy's" on Lake Granbury. In my readings I see that there is a new hatch coming available this summer. Just another price going up!

I had not heard about that but I had been making it at home.
I love my catfish. I went in to a restrant in Pidgon Forge, Tenn and got the all you could eat catfish.
Well after 3 pieces the manager came over and acussed me of sharing my fish with someone else
when they had all got there own plates. I guess that was thier way of getting you to stop ordering more fish.
Man was I pissed, he was lucky I didn't live in the area or I would have been in there everyday eating all thier fish.
I would have went on a strict fish diet. HE! HE! HE!

Here in Phoenix you don't even need to go fishing, just go to Lam's Market on 67th ave. & Indian School and pick out the one you want in the big fish tank and the butchers can fix it up for you on the spot. For several years the U.S. catfish record was one caught in Lake Pleasant,AZ.Last edited by JeffB2; 05-08-2011 at 06:56 PM.

I think the farms need to breed these big boys, one fish would feed a whole city!

I know Irby's quite well. We have a lake house there and it is only a couple of hours away. My mom also lives there and she loves Irby's catfish. Mellow how did you get to know Granbury?
