Considering what is done to so many of the foreclosures that one is ultra nice! Shouldn't take much cleanup at all by comparison. Hmmm........El Rancho de Vara.

I got a great deal on it, but it needs some cleaning.
And it was a repo Bob, it's been sitting about six months, empty.
The best part is it sits on a acre, I have room to build a nice shop in the back.
Plus the whole back is chain link fenced for my Boxers to run.
I am already trying to think where I am gonns pour my slab for my new shop.
I am also gonna pour a slab where they put the square things in between the
house and the pool deck, I ain't gonna be pulling weeds the rest of my life.

Get the entire yard paved, Kurt, problem solved - - plus no weeds or grass to contend with.

Kurt, you probably already know this, but have any palms inspected before you accept them. They've been having a lot of scorpion infestation down there in recent years. I know a guy who was given 6 palms for "free". Had them hauled to his lot and as they were unloading them hundreds of the little buggars came crawling out.................they re-hauled the "free" trees to the dump.

Nice yard (???). One positive thing, you wont have to do any grass mowing at least for a while. The house - very nicely done

Nice digs, Kurt. I love that Pahrump sky and scenery; o'course, I like the Vegas Valley skyline, too, just a lot more buildings around here.

Can a person irradicate scorpions with insecticides? Just asking, as we don't have many around here - too cold in winter, I suppose.

Scorpions are a "PAIN" pun intended and so are Rattlers so watch out. I love the desert landscape and if you put some thought into the yard it can look like an oasis - - - don't forget that cactus have beautiful blooms and rocks are pretty and don't need fertilizing either. LOL

I don't really know Roger, I've only seen a couple on our property there in the past couple years, so haven't seen the need to find out.

Rock landscape down there is very common, particularly with the water restrictions in place. Except for some trees and accent plants, we're mostly rock. Spray Roundup a couple times a year and it keeps the weeds down pretty well.

I know my BIL (who lives in Fountain Hills, AZ.) has his yard sprayed for them on a regular basis. I was rather surprised that the most dangerous ones are very small, less than an inch. We would often see them curled up, dead, on the patio. I had expected to see the large ones you see in the movies.
As to the landscaping, I noticed a few "lawns" made of astro turf so that is an option.

Ya I know all about them, Like I said I grew up in Vegas in the 60' & 70's.
Went to Ruby s. Thomas, Kit carson, Orr Jr. High, Valley High and UNLV.
We had a home in town and another home outside town in the Desert
right off the old LA highway which will lead to Parump where I am moving.
We used to get scorpions in the hay that we feed to the horses.
I got stung once and got a high fever for a couple days.
Seen rattlers and all that stuff but by far the worse in my personal opion
is the black widow spiders which are all over the place.
More worried for my Boxers then my self, because they don't know better.

FWIW - - - I went to a bird dog training class with a friend that was a big bird hunter and the class was designed to teach the dogs to avoid any area that smelled like a rattler. They put a shock collar on a young pointer and they had a de-venomized and de-fanged a rattler and had him on a small rope that they would drag to a hidden location. Of course when the pup caught scent of the rattler, he started trailing him but just when he got close enuff to see the snake they would zap him with the shock collar. Most dogs that day only took one zap and then when they would smell or see the snake they would "yelp" without even being zapped. It seems cruel but if you've ever seen a young pup that's been bitten by a big rattle snake you realize that it is definitely worth causing a little shock collar pain.

I know what you mean Mello and you are Exactly right.
I lost a boxer in Gorigia to some water moccasins when he swam out in a lake.
It was matting season and water moccasinsget make a big ball with maybe 30 or 40 snakes in the water. they were bitting him and he just kept swimming around them trying to see what was bitting him. anyway with in 15 minutes of him coming out of the lake he was dead.
