I waited 25yrs before I did mine after the 1st doc said I needed them. My present doc agreed that I shouldn't have had it done then. He told me to wait until I really needed them.
BUT, don't do like a friend did. He waited too long & ended up NOT being able to have the replacements because he had worn his so bad that he had stress fractures in both bones that take the replacement parts. The doc told him, SORRY we can't replace them now because of these issues.
Do the worse first & then wait for the other, thats what I am doing. Like I said mine was gone & had I not done it I could have & possibly would have ended up like a friend....joe

I origionally hurt mine in sports years ago and I've had 3 operations on my right knee and 4 on my left. There's no cartlidge left and it's bone against bone. Fortunetly I can take alot of pain and I walk as much as possible. The trouble I'm having with mine is I cannot do much landscapping work anymore. My right leg has bow out and my Doctor says you need the operation on my right knee much more than my left. I keep saying I'll have it done and I'mnot like you as I'm small frame and only weigh 165 but the years are catching up with me as I'm 67. I had a rotor cuff operation and that was the most painful thing I've ever had and they say the leg is even worst. Some say they got right up with very little pain and some say about what you went through. Did they give you a morphine pump for the pain?

Compared the the pain I was having before the surgery, the pain I am having "now" doesnt even come close it, its basically just really really sore. It was days 3-7 which were the worse for me. Yes they game me the pain pump but I used it very little, I didnt see why to use it unless I wanted to get high off of it, the docs were even surprised by the little I had used it. I use some of my lighter weight drugs to ease the pain, can't stand to be in a fog..

Joe I know what your going through I had my right knee done just under 2 years ago. It hurt like holy heck for maybe 2 or 3 weeks then as the swelling went away it got better. I'm sorry I waited so long but I had to make a living. I waited till I couldn't stand it anymore. I went to therapy for 2 months before and I think 2 or 3 after.Don't let it get stiff. When I got out of surgery my right leg looked like my arm hardly no mussle but now I can run if I have to. chasing the grandkids I couldn't do that before. IT will be worth the pain.
