I probably should have said 'seasoned' rather then 'elder'. Myself, never done a text message though I do have a cell which will - don't know a soul that does either except those under 60Dave W

I got some text messages on my cell. Didn't answer them because I didn't know how to and didn't care to learn. When the phone bill came in, there was a $10 charge for text messages. I went ballistic. Drove to the phone store and had them block my phone from text messages and remove the text charge from my bill. They were younguns at the counter and looked a me like I had two heads. Don't care. Don't do text. Phones are for talking.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

There are a couple of things, including texting and internet service capabilities that will be removed from my next phone - which is due to be replaced this coming week. Texting - why, I can talk. Internet - why, I have two computers plus enough parts to build a couple more - and I REALLY DON"T NEED TO BE CONNECTED 24/7/365

And just who in the heck can see the danged internet on a 1 1/2" screen. I picked up metal the other day. Was lunch time so they were busy. Saw a guy working his touch screen phone with his car key. Told him " If I told you 10 years ago you would use your keys to work your phone you would look at me like I was crazy" He was my age. I hate the stupid things. Was in the ER. my son was in an accident, tried for 15 mins to make his touchscreen phone work so I could call his girlfriend. He didn't know the number, but was in his phone from Hell.............

My wife and daughter text one another all the time. Drives me crazy. My opinion is: pick up the dam$ed phone, call, and talk. My opinion doesn't count for much, though.

I'm a talker, too. Can't figure out why it seems easier to juggle that little phone to try texting, when you can push one or two buttons and enjoy the sound of a real voice speaking in real words. I do text, but I have to use a phone with the typewriter style keyboard, and spell out and properly punctuate everything; my kids laugh at me, and my grandkids turn red and refuse to acknowledge my presence.
