Possom Outbreak!

Definately an off the wall subject, but kinda interesting.:LOL: Ive got possoms like crazy around my house lately. And big... they are like two feet long not including the tail! I work til 6 pm mon thru friday, so when I get off theres not alot of daylight. When I was tryin to get my truck runnin the other night, I heard a long hissing sound behind me... turned around and there was a big as* possom with its mouth open like five feet from me. I jumped up on the core support in a half a second:LOL: I shot another in my back yard with a pellet rifle today at 2 in the afternoon. And I got a trap that catches one everytime I set it! Whats crazy is I dont live out in the boonies, I live right in the middle of amarillo about 250 yrds from I 40. I dont know... I think its a conspiracy:LOL:

Sound like a Bar B Q get the Hot sauce . Seriously that is a funny story. Run for your lives the possums are coming. Could be a movie or better yet reality TV show, would be just an interesting as whats on at any given day of the week.

josh i have heard that hiss that they make. sends cold chills up your spine. they get really big here also. we are not allowed to shoot them as we live in town so we just live trap them and relocate them up the county. nasty looking creatures.

I hope that is a small possum,cos down here they hiss at you,but they are the size of cats...large cats..That thing looks like a rat that we have in the swampy mangroves..:D:D I bet they can climb ya leg pretty quick though..:eek:

Possums are just scary looking rodents! :eek: I hate running across one at night.

We have racoons at our shop. Every night when I feed the stray cats 3 big racoons also show up to eat. At first I would scare them away because I thought they were chasing the cats away from their food, but then I noticed the cats will eat right beside them out of the same dish, so I just put out some extra now.

Tonight one came right up to me when I was feeding the cats, he isn't afraid of humans at all, and doesn't seem to be mean either. I guess they have lived with the cats so long they think they are just one of them. :LOL:

Okay..did some gooogling..This is what we have down here..

our possums are our only marsupial in th u.s.

They look like they are related to rats...Like I said earlier,they are about the same size as the rats we find in the mangroves down here..Will they attack??If you corner our possums,you can have a fight on ya hands..I have been ripped by one,and their claws are very sharp..I just remembered,we do have another possum here,,a rare beast...It screams when it moves..but it comes from his mode of transport..This is ''Possum'' Shute..:D:D
Don,forgot to ask,,how big is a racoon?Just a little bigger than a cat??like a big cat,like a Maine coon??
