I like this plan better! Question was the 348 an option for the trucks in the 60's?

Yes it was - the 348 was a truck and industrial service (like irrigation pumps, etc) engine that got shifted into passenger car duty in 1958 and remained in service well into the '60's in trucks (1964 I think). But the one shown is a 305V6 torque monster - looks a lot like the 348/409 valve covers though, doesn't it?
