I would hope I saw it before I came ACROSS it, and I'd sure hie myself in a direction away from it; that thing is just too big to mess with without some tactical planning. Otherwise, I'd prolly just sieze up and vapor lock on the spot, considering my age and all; I used to go hunting the things when i was a pup, and have gotten a few as long as five feet or so, but they don't get as big as that thing here in the Mojave and Sonoran Deserts.

Twistin' and bangin' on stuff for about sixty or so years; beat up and busted, but not entirely dead - yet.

I'm guessing that thing is at least 8 feet long! My hunting buddies call me the snake magnet, because rattlers seem to gravitate towards me. I hate snakes! Last one I stumbled on took 4 shots of snake loads from the .40 cal glock and still kept coming!"

they are common around here. they don't get that big any more because of the hogs. there is also a change going on. they do not alert as much because to the hogs it's a dinner bell. so we have to really watch for them just like the copperheads.
