My Wife Said NO! YOUR A JUNK ADDICT

My wife was taking me to the Dentist this morning; I spotted a Tractor with a sign for sale $2,000. I wanted to stop and see it; she said no you don't need that Antique piece of JUNK. My wife says you want anything you see!! I said I'm driving home, she said not in my car. I said if you don’t stop on the way home I'll never speak to you again. I was at the Dentist office longer then I expected. I had taken pain pills before going and they gave me more shots then they thought they would have to. One tooth had to have a huge filling and the other tooth had to have a crown. I was in the Dentist chair for 3 hours they were taken an impression on a tooth. I was supposed to keep my mouth close for three minutes and I felt my mouth opening as I was falling asleep, they had to do another one. My back was really hurting and I kept putting my hand behind it the Dental assistant asked if I wanted a pillow I said yes, the Dr said he saw me squirming. On the way home I was woozy, my wife was driving faster then usual maybe because she had to sit at the Dentist office for over 3 hrs and with a discount it was over $900 dollars. I missed the tractor but she wouldn't go back. My wife said you have a bush hog you just paid $675 for now you want a tractor to pull it. I said I could put a rope around her and she could pull it. No tractor for me.:CRY:

That was really good; I was trying to cool down from my walk that I wasn't able to take this morning. I forgot to take my blood pressure and heart rate but by the time the clip was over my heart rate came down.

I heard he may come back with a show, I hope he does.

Thanks for sending the clip. That is ironic because I was talking about Tim the tool man Friday when we eating at the Olive Garden after my wife's Dr. appointment.

Honestly there was a nice looking woman bending down with the famous tool time butt crack, I told my wife I did not look even though it was right there.:)

I have a simple way to work with my addiction.
I'm off at work 8 months a year and the wife stays home raising kids.

My job pays all bills, savings, projects, etc etc

I pay myself a monthly salary, it gets put in the first of the month. This is strictly for hobbies, NOT for any living expenses.
She runs her own homemade soap company, and so technically has the ability to make as much spending cash as she has the time to make for her own hobbies, interests.

I can't ever complain I want something, I either have the money saved or I don't.

Deep - I have a allowance that each month goes into an account that is for hobbies, etc too. Lately my wife started to complain about what I bought with the money(in this case, a new semi auto shot gun for quail and duck season.) We had a royal todo, with many "LOOKS" when I finaly pointed out that she spends more on lunches and dinners with friend(when I work the swing shift) as well as trips, airfare, clothes, shoes, purses, knitting supplies(have you seen what they charge for yarn!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek:) and if she wanted an allowance that she could have one, but no more massages out of joint checking, etc. She declined the offer and appologized about the gun!:rolleyes:

the only stipulation regarding my hobbies is they must be somewhat contained in my 1500sq ft shop.
she once complained that while I was out at sea my 4 hobbies were making dead spots in the grass....
I informed her that the keys were in the house and she should try moving them every week. no complaints since. (I mean, really, what kinda person complains about having a 63.5 galaxie in the yard?)

I guess I have it "good". I have my car, my little diesel tractor with 59" mower deck, my cameras, my full of tools workshop, my big pick up truck and the home built computers. She goes to lunch with the 'girls' once a month, the withe her 96 yo mom, has her jig saw puzzles, works part time for our local zoning board.

I did talk about building another car recently - have you ever heard the sound of silence? Gotten that 'look' ---- for days:o:CRY: (Had I pushed it, Iwould have succeeded - but sometimes things just need to happen rather then be pushed)

Being married for now over 41 years to the same person, I always put the family first above my wants. As time would afford a project my wife has found more then me. At one time we were buying and selling Corvettes she would find them I would do a little work on them and I was also the sales person. My wife knows I’m just kidding when I tell her to stop so I can look at a car or something. Just a couple of days ago she asked if I had any need for a 53 Chevy drive train, I thought for a minute and said no. 20 years ago I sold the complete drive train out of a 54 Chevy 150 2 dr. sedan that I still have. I had hopes of a 350 engine, trans the whole 9 yards, Mustang II front-end, black monochromatic with only the beltline left in stainless shinny trim. I just bought a 54 Chevy front-end to put under a 40 Chevy Coupe to get rid of the 6 lugs and the lower arms are rusted out. I would like to fix it up a little then sell it I don’t have the time for all of the projects. I got the steering column with the front-end since I let it go with all the parts from the 54. I have a 55 Chevy that has the clutch and brake pedal assembly still intact since I changed it over to a 350 trans. I could use the pedals for the 54 if I live long enough to do all of that which I would want to do.

Now that I think of it my wife has found more then 90% of the cars that I have bought. When we had been married for a few years she bought me a 40 Ford 4 dr. for my birthday, she said two big burly guys were him hauling around so my wife said she would take it. Then she spotted a 40 Ford pickup that I bought. I still have the 39 Ford Coupe I had when we got married. Only a woman that would find the cars and get me to buy the ones I really didn’t want is a CAR GUYS DREAM WIFE!!!! This is all true.

Stories are stories and if you can’t tell them in a more then dull light they wouldn’t be worth reading.

I am blessed with a wonderful Wiffy also, However, if I ever want to know how OLD, BROKE and CRIPPLED that I am - - - or how many OTHER things that I really need to do - - - - all I have to do is mention getting another project car to work on :HMMM:

Well said Richard. My wife supports me in most of my projects and hobbies. She's not fond of hunting(I think mostly because while I'm gone she has to take care of the dogs, she actually likes venison and other wild game to eat!).
We have a pretty good relationship too, it's just now and then the "LOOK"
will rear it's ugly head and raise your hackles!:LOL:

Still a cool vintage tractor, that could pull that bush hog!!! Might have to slowly work on that one with her. Point out the benefits of using the tractor to create a large veggie garden, and plow the driveway out from snow in the winter, heck it could even tow some of those old projects around. And if it's like my grandma's old Massey, it can dig fence post holes. I bet they even make a sewing attachment!:toocool::rolleyes::LOL:

I think most of the guys on here that are married and have an interest in old cars have to have a good wife. You sure have a good one.

My wife knew that guy always has junk for sale; she goes by there on her way to work. I don't get out much only to go to the Dr's and a car show from time to time. As a matter of fact I will be going by the old tractor today since I have to go back to the Dentist. I was having lunch and at first I thought I had someone’s tooth in my mouth from the energy bar company. I was ready to call the 800 number but when I rinsed my mouth I found out it was mine. Could you imagine having someone’s tooth from the plant that made the energy bar in your mouth?::mad: I will take a look at the tractor and I will take a couple of pictures. Since my wife could see what the guy sells she is pretty good at spotting a bad deal or a not too honest seller.:HMMM:

I got my tooth filled and was telling the Dental assistant about thinking it was something in the packaged food bar but it was a piece of my tooth. The assistant told me she got take out at a Greek Restaurant in town she was chewing and chewing only to find she was chewing on a BAND-AID!!! I asked if she took it back or called them? She said no and that was her last vast to that Restaurant.

It's an old row cropping type tractor. Probably McCormick/International.
What is sad, is seeing the old farmers still working 200+ acres doing two rows at a time with one of those.

Relationships are funny man. I've been married 11 years (I'm 31). I bought my wifes car because she felt guilty to spend the money. She's been the one encouraging me to buy my hobby cars for the same reason. Last one I was going to pass up (because I'm a wuss with family money and I needed an $800 loan from the fam funding), I told her about it... she found the ad on craigslist and called the guy. Told him I'd buy it when I got home and basically that I was an idiot that would kick myself for 6 months over not buying it.

Thanks for the information on the old tractor. I'm a City guy trying to make it in the country. I should have invested in chain saws and lawn mowers. Just had to get after a Raccoon they won't take no coming around the house for an answer.

Are you in the US Navy or do you work on a Ship for long periods at a time?

My wife tells me to let it go when I say I should have bought the cars I passed on, one example 57 Chevy 2 dr. ht. Fuel injection from an early Corvette $10,000. It was a restored car but I didn't like the under coating under the hood. The year was 1986.

Depending on usage, that Tractor is going to be a bear. Like an old drag car, it's meant to go in a straight line and not much else.
Small Kubotas with shuttle shift or hydrostatic transmissions are light, powerful, and very very useful even in small spaces. Just thinking out loud here.

We watched several other clips about the Raccoons from your link.

We have been feeding a stray cat for about two years he wants to be on his own. He just comes for food; in the 15 years he is the only one that we cannot get close too.

We put food out when the (New Guy) that’s what I’ve called him since he started coming. If we don't get the plates up soon enough the Raccoons will come. One night we had a family of 6 we try to get them to leave but they can smell the food we have rescued many Cats and do not want a confrontation. The cats we take care of were all strays but have become domesticated so the Raccoons could do them harm.

I could be wrong but I'm thinking you went to a Diesel Mechanic School maybe in Wyoming. I was there for Auto Interior and I know they have an excellent Diesel training class. That is something to be proud of working on such huge Diesel Engines. Then go home and work on your Diesel truck and lawn tractor. Nice Boat plus you Ford trucks. That was very interesting the clips.

I'll check out the Kubota's that would work out great for what we have to do we have mostly woods so I don't need a big tractor.

Just a thought on Kubota tractors
we bought a 18hp 2 cylinder diesel 4X4 Kubota tractor at an auction
fine machine but when I tried to get some parts at the Kubota dealer
they told me that it was a gray market tractor and they could Not help me with any parts., He was very snooty about it.

I was fortunate to run a business for years with a fleet of horrible vehicles that broke down every few days :-)
Thus the saying with ford trucks: "You can fix darn near anything if you replace darn near everything."

Don't know if you can find one, but I ran a landscaping company for many years, the handiest tractor was the Kubota B21. It is small, light, could do big work and not destroy the grass in bazillion dollar yards.

Your parents must be really proud of you and you got over the cracking of the whip.
My daughter married a College Graduate from Notre Dam he has not worked nor has he wanted to work in 5 years. He will be 40 years old soon. Just goes to show the difference in people some want to make it others want to take it. My daughter has been married to a bum the same amount of years that you have been married. We can’t get her to understand he is no good.

Wow that's the same Kabota we rented to do the foundation trenching and driveway work here. Those little tractors are amazing, and do tight turns!
One for sale locally that I'm trying to get my friend to look at, who has a few acres in the country.

I'm in love with them. We had one with 16k hours on it.
All I recall replacing was minor stuff. Not to mention we had a hundred different untrained drivers. The B21 was awesome.

Some of the newer models have midmount PTO's for belly mowers and stuff too.
