    NZ car show

Put on Speed Channel this morn and Meguiars had a show about New Zealand and some very neat cars, hot rods to classics to muscle cars. One portion showed a car show put on especially for Meguiars, there were 100s of cars there. Hoped I would see some our members cars from NZ but if they were there I missed them. If any of you were there lets see some pics.

I caught that episode again, it's been on a couple of times now. Those New Zealanders love cars just like us Americans do.

Yes,Keith,,we do,,..If it was the AmeriCARna show,,Lynda,my wife and I were there, but they didnt show our old F100 truck, they camera crew walked past it,but it wasnt their style.. HotrodTodd was there too,but with his wife, and without the T bucket..Whiplash wasnt there but probably wished to be...Blowby served up the thread on NZHRM site,so we had look at it on there a few weeks back..If you saw the old guy with the 32/3w,he got that as a body only many years ago,and has restored it totally..

    Thanks guys,

Before that show I had no idea the extent of the Rod Scene in New Zealand.

Our rodding scene probably started in the late 50s,with a few articles in the Popular Mechanics books that were available back then, with juicy articles about the hot rodding up in your country..Since we had to make everything from scratch for a good many decades, because of import restrictions etc,its been known as Kiwi Ingenuity... I wont bore you with too many details...but if you want a closer look at the lifestyle/industry we have down here now,,google Rods by Reid

    NZHRA,
There are an ever increasing number of privately run events as well as Hot rod Association events/rod runs,to the point where if you could afford too, there is something happening just about every weekend, somewhere in the country,in fact,we have,in the past, sat down and decided where to go,up to three or four months in advance. The North Island events quite often clash,so its always a problem..

Not an "Old Zealand", but there is a Zealand island in Denmark. Actually, New Zealand was named after Zeeland which is a province in Holland.

To be very honest, I wouldn't have a clue how New Zealand got it's name. The Maori name is A...T...Rowwer... which means "the land of the long white cloud" and sorry I can't spell the Maori name. I think of NZ as Kiwi land because if it can be done ,a Kiwi will do it first and faster, yeah right I hear you say.

Nice car, that one Richard..JR is a craftsman, actually an auto electrician by trade,I think,,but as an engineer,he is absolutely amazing..And yes,you pay for it too..But the jobs he does are all like that...
Jack,we are but a small drop in the bucket compared to the bigger shops, but I dont have a lot of room in my shop, and I do a lot of repair work,on truck fronts, race cars, plus just about anything else but boats...Anything you trip over, and need answers, just ask,and I will see what I can find..
And thanks for the kind comments on our scene down here guys,we have a population of about 4million,and only a few thousand hotrodders, plus the usual several thousand petrolheads,so we dont do too bad..
