That was just plain stupid not to mention long and painful to listen to. Who's the target market here? Well it sure isn't me and this is certainly not "your fathers Chevrolet..."
What happened to the beautiful models that would stand by the car with their sexy hand and arm motions with the big smiles (I mean well you know) anyway this was a real head spinner. What did they say?

Now, our "wonderful" prez said that it was going to cost $41,000 base price with our broke Uncle Sammy giving us back $7,500. This is still costing us $33,500 for that car. Now, I can buy that hamster's Kia locally for about $19 - 22,000 and get up to 36 mpg depending on which engine I choose. I can drive a heluva long way for $14,500 worth of gas even in my F350 - to be green. Nah - all an electric car is is a transference from one energy source to another - and, interestingly, often 'generated' from the same base product, oil. Plug it into an outlet - electricity is usually made from a carbon compound with only a very small amount from renewable sources - but then those generating.....aw heck, you know what I mean. Now, where is that savings?? :CRY::CRY:

My take on this pig in a poke (with apologies to pigs) is that it will serve a niche market. It will be the latest vanity statement for the wealthy tree huggers, Hollywood types, maybe a few politicians, perhaps some government fleets, but not very many real people who have to watch their budget. I think that's what galls me the most about the $7500 subsidy with my tax dollars that Brother White mentioned, it will be a form of wellfare for comparatively wealthy people. It will be a crappy car at an inflated price used for propaganda purposes...........sold at a loss no less.:rolleyes:
Considering all that, the advertising really doesn't mean much anyway....
I have seen it all in the auto world after 30 yrs in GM retail..Was aganist
bailout and a lot of things GM did..I'm still a Chevy guy, but don't think
the older generation will see a lot from the plug in hybrids anytime soon
that will amount to anything...I am retired now, and as long as I can
buy a carb, or fuel injection that's what I will drive...As for as the ads
they are money wasted in my opinion..Dealers pay big $$ for these ads
and so do the mfgs.
