Thanks for posting that Bob. We need to see that every once in a while to at least have an idea on how we got here as a country.
Now, after reading that, it might be appropriate to read the US Constitution, particularly the amendments. I'll just post the link as it's way too long to include here. Without going into a rant, you can see what liberties are being ignored or trampled on by various government entities. While the Declaration is the most important document freeing us from English rule (I've seen it at the National Archives), this is what we actually are supposed to be governed by in the US : http://constitutionus.com/
What also is interesting is that so many other countries have patterned theirs after this document.Dave W

No doubt Dave, and along with the Constitution the Federalist Papers are nearly indispensible as they were the contemporary explanation of why and what of the Constitution. http://www.foundingfathers.info/federalistpapers/ Madison, Hamilton, and Jay went to lengths explaining the precepts of forming that precious document. But at this juncture getting folks to renew their enthusiasm for independence over dependence might be enough of a challenge/task.Last edited by Bob Parmenter; 07-02-2010 at 01:11 PM.
