D@*N, I remember when Hodaka's were cool. I used to drool over CZ, Bultaco, and maybe more than any, the Maico. I loved Motocross in the 70's.Last edited by djv8ga; 05-01-2010 at 06:55 PM.

maico's were advanced as heck back in the day, i remember reading an article about a 75? 490 maico vs an 2005 ktm 500 something, the maico was only about half a bike behind haha.
ii went to our local motorcycle track the other day and found a guy riding 2 bultaco pursang 360's and a CZ talk about being jealous. also had an old one lunger BSA

Does anyone do the "Trials" thing anymore? I remember Bultacos kicking butt. We use to try to emulate that stuff on our mini bikes...LOL!

My first motorcycle was a stripped down Hodaka 90. I grew up in the desert (Phoenix, AZ) and we ran the living hell out of that bike. We used to buy pistons "by the six pack", LOL.
Funny, but the 1960's did not seem like such a great time to be growing up, but we had a ball.Last edited by John Palmer; 05-01-2010 at 09:24 PM.

Okay, John, I know you're getting ready for the big day with the '60 tomorrow(DON'T let Troy honk the horn in the finals this time.... that was CLASSIC !!! LOL !!!) but all Hodaka's had "PABATCO" on them... what did that stand for?
(I know, I know.....)
I "graduated" from a Honda Step-Through 90 to one of the Ace Hodaka's... no comparison.

What is this Dave, Saturday night triva? You got me on that one, I have no idea? LOL
If we make it to the finals in Quick 32 again, Troy will diffinately be blowing his horn again! After all these years people still remind us about that final round, It Was Classic Troy, LOL.

PABTACO was the parent company to hodaka,
pabtaco was supplying japan with farm chemicals and whatnot and for payment we basically got bikes.
there are quite a few stories of hodakas living thru hellacious conditions, one guy rode a hodaka wombat some 10,000 miles over austrailia and only had one failure a plug!
check this link out for a great story, http://starrfilm.com/articles/OdeToHodaka.html
and for great pics and info www.strictlyhodaka.com
and heck yeah trials is still alive and well.
also some of you guys would probably enjoy the vintage motorcross series, olds bike and guys from 30's-80's its an awesome show to watch the old bikes tear it up.Last edited by gassersrule_196; 05-01-2010 at 09:32 PM.

heres some eye candy i seen at our local motorcycle track last weekend
pursang 360, and a CZ
blue one is the single lunger BSA
silver bike is a CZ with an aftermarket swingarm. these are all raced in vintage motorcross and trails.
every year in athena oregon they hold "hodaka days" where its 99 percent hodies and the rest is anything aircooled 2 stroke of the vintage era. they still hold observed trails, mx-ing, and scrambles

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
