He's Ok just going through some of those life changes right now. He's in the process of moving right now and doesn't have a computer hooked up.
Here's what he said.

Good...................at least we don't have to waste money on flowers!!
Just kidding, just kidding......;)
that`s the trouble with us old hot rodders .. any of us could go to hot rod heaven at a moments notice
Well, the good news is his move isn't all trauma, and the time off is doing him some good. I got a message with a picture of him enjoying the beach. Not so sure he should be in a speedo though........
Glad to see your smiling face again, Richard.
Since you're once again in a position to provide advice and counsel for those of us who are less informed (or ignorant, or might have been declared legally stupid, or senile) there are several things that I have been wanting to ask you .. or tell you ....... or get your opinion on.
BUT, I'LL BE DIPPED IF I CAN REMEMBER WHAT THEY WERE!
Welcome back, friend!
Jim
Interesting how the seasons in our lives affect a lot of what we do. 2009 was a disastrous year for me from a business standpoint, but it gave me a lot more time to spend on some other things (things that don’t cost a lot of money but the blessings are beyond compare – like spending time with the grand kids!) and for that I was grateful.
I think that several on this forum had a “bit more time” on their hands (for whatever reason) and as such, there was a lot of bantering back and forth. Not that bantering is bad, it a part of hot roddin’ and most of us have paid our dues at “Shady Oaks Garage” so we feel that we’re experts (in at least some area relating to cars) and we freely share our ideas. Sometime we share with passion and sometimes, well, things get a bit heated – I’m guilty here as well.
The difficult thing with an online venue is that we don’t actually “see” those to whom we are speaking and it’s easy to mis-interpret something or to take offense. If it would drop there, all would be good – but from time to time, we’ve gotten a bit out of control and personalized to the point of character assignation and just plain bad manners.
If I have ever insulted any of you, I am truly sorry and please know I highly value the opinions of several on this forum (Don, Uncle Bob, Dave Severson and Evolvo, and Tech among them) and certainly respect everyone’s right to express their ideas. Bear in mind that my passion – from time to time – may sound harsh and come off as arrogant, but that is not my intent. There are several others on this forum who share like passion and come across as strong too – but let’s all be big boys (and girls too!) and continue to share in this great sport we all love!
I have missed Tech and welcome him back in whatever capacity he chooses to participate. He’s a wellspring of knowledge and I always look forward to his very detailed and yes “technical” explanations.
Regards All,
Glenn Sexton
That's okay Alan, we make allowances..............:D
Glenn, good sentiments, but be careful, you may prompt a South Florida group hug................
Well now that's just horrible!!
Bob thanks for this post. I too was worried about Don. It's nice to see folks care enough to check up on others. Tech good seeing yah back too! Who would of thought the three word story would be such a hit! 100 plus pages and still rambling on!:D
Thanks Bob and everyone for asking about me.......I'm fine. We just had some major changes in our lives in the past couple of months. Dan lost his job one week and I lost mine the very next week. When Dan lost his job we also lost the apartment we had with his job, so we moved. Luckily, he has found a new, even better job and we will be moving there in the next week or so.
It really wasn't a horrible experience, and Dan learned a lot about himself. He had 3 or 4 job offers pretty quick, so it helped his confidence alot. Me, I am going to cool it for a while and figure out what I want to do next......I'm in no hurry........getting lots done on my 27 and Dan has his 30 ready for primer. Lots of advantages to not working.
We got a lot of help from my Son Don and his GF Taylor during this time and also my ex-wife. Really appreciate that a lot.
So,my computer is currently stored away and I can't wait until we hook it back up in the new place. Right now I am at Fed Ex using theirs. Thanks again for the concern guys.
Don
Look's like you should put a cot and computer connection in the shop...LOL

Just checking in to let everyone know I'm still breathing.:D We are scheduled to move into the new place next week, so I will have internet then......I'm going through withdrawl.
Got a lot done on my 27, fired the new engine up the other night for the first time. It started after a couple of revolutions and REALLY sounds strong. Ran great for five minutes with 60 lbs oil pressure, and then Dan saw the oil pressure gauge drop to zero. I pulled the pan yesterday and found the main oil galley plug laying on top of the oil pickup. It evidently blew out, but I think we shut it down before any damage. I tapped threads and they are now screw ins, no more straked plugs. Learned a lesson on that one.
I should be able to reinstall the engine today and fire it back up tonight. Just about ready to reinstall the body, if the fiberglass guy would get it done for me.
I won't be able to respond to this thread as I am still using FedEx's computer, but just wanted to say hi to everyone and bring you up to speed. It's been an "interesting" couple of months, but not bad at all.....actually nice having time to work on the car and other stuff.
Take care everybody.
Don
Heck you lot re-enforce my idea on community wellbeing. Lamin8r lead me to this site and I am so grateful as I have received such open friendly communication from everybody I have had the pleasure to "talk" to. As somebody mentioned in this thread,Hot Rodding people are special and as we all age I find that we go past just speaking cars etc.,it is more about that large family environment of each looking out for each other and isn't the world getting smaller. Now if we could only get all the politicians around this world to stop the BULLSH*T and start building Hot Rods wouldn't the world be a better place.;):HMMM::(:3dSMILE:
You're right Whiplash......funny how we all become friends here and in most cases we will never have the pleasure of meeting one another. The times I have gotten to meet some of the members in person it was like we had known each other for years.
I'm back at FedEx......computer withdrawl was getting me.:o Supposedly, the new place is ready tomorrow, so we can start moving in. A TV and computer are first on my list for sure. I haven't seen the news in two months, so I have no idea what the world is doing.
Dan and I went to Don Garlits Museum the weekend of the 20th, drove my T the 220 miles each way. He had a great turnout for his show.....300 cars, and we really had fun. Got the oil galley plug replaced in the motor for my 27, used a screw in this time, and it is running well now.....50 lbs oil pressure at idle and about 70 or so when you goose it. Runs at 180 too, which is a relief.
Only thing holding me up is the fiberglass guy still has my body. I went to see him and prod him a little yesterday, and he "swears" I will have it this week. I think I have decided to paint the body red. I have never had a red hot rod, so it will be a change.
Well, that's about it.......at 20 cents a minute for FedEx's computer I can't be too wordy. Hope everyone is ok, be talking to you hopefully from home next time.:3dSMILE:
Don
Good to hear you guys are doing well and that the 27 is progressing. Congrats on the engine solving/working. Nice to have them run at the right temp too!
At 20 cents a minute, one could go broke fast! Makes you want to get a laptop and ride around until you get a free signal!
