We got the same e mail a couple of weeks back too,by now its doing the rounds of NZ and Aussie,probably on its way back up to you guys,,and yes,gimme some of those trucks,trailers ARE kool,so are their loads..

Man, how many of you remember when the new car unveilang day was a really big deal???? We had a Ford dealer in town, and nobody except the people that worked there got to see the new cars till the day came!!!! They'd have an open house, coffee and cookies, test rides, and all the fun stuff!!!! With the junk they're peddaling now, I can't even tell a '99 from and '09!!!!

Yeah, the Ford and Chevy dealers used to keep the new models hidden behind fences either on a back lot, or a storage lot a few blocks from the dealership. We'd ride our bikes over and find a hole in the fence to peak through. It was an annual ritual back then. Can't seem to get that excited nowadays.

Pulled my 70 ford pick up into the chevy dealer and three sales men tried to buy it from me. Went to ford to drop off our mustang for it's service and picked up the wife in the old truck those guys didn't give it a second look. I thought those guys would want to look at it before the chevy guys did. Kurt

About the earliest I can remember is the 54 Chevy line, I thought the Bel Air 2dr. hard top was really nice plus the Corvettes. I was hooked; I can remember the 57 Chevy's at the drag strip with the hubcaps off 2 dr. hard top cars red, black, white. Those were good times. Yes Dave we would finally end up walking through the Ford dealership after the Dodge, and Plymouth. There were a few in the 70's worth looking at but after that they were just transportation with the exception of the Camaro's, Corvette's, and the Mustang's when the went back with style.

Yes, I remember back in the 50s and into the 60s not only could tell the make and year of a car from a mile away but usually the model too. I also remember Ceicle Whitebone in San Francisco advertising a new 1950 ford for under $1000. I do like our "new to us" 2006 charger rt however and the new mustangs are fairly easy to spot also.

Mem-rees, crowding the corners of my mind. Oh, how I remember: the excitement of "new model season", the day the cars were first put on display, and if you were lucky enough to be around and see one of the "haulers" come into town, the stir it made, with folks following and trying to get a glimpse or a preview, or getting to watch as the cars were unloaded from the trailers. The very first truck I ever drove was a '56 F-700 or maybe a 900 cabover similar to the one in the first picture, but with a 30 foot van on the back. In years following, the trucks got bigger, more powerful, and much more "sophisticated", if that is the right word. Yep, if I was independently wealthy, I'd have a collection of classic vehicles, and trucks similar to these would definitely be in the collection. Thanks for the memories.

Wow! Imagine pulling into a car show with one of these haulers loaded with those cars!

I wonder if someone,somewhere will discovered ,locked away someday,a complete loaded carrier ,maybe lost or stolen..........now wouldn't that be a find!
