If there were no more for drugs, trafficing in them would not be a problem...... The basic business premise of supply and demand is at work here...if the American consumers didn't want drugs, there wouldn't be people here from outside and inside the country selling them.....
Making drugs illegal and having some token law enforcement effort accomplishes very little....it seems this country should have learned that during the prohibition days.....

The problem with selective population pruning is that it is the ones doing the actual work that get pruned.
Here in Dallas and I am sure else where but here they have found heroin in elementary schools being distributed as a candy looking substance. I dont think these kids are demanding heroin. The neighborhoods are so flooded with it that it gets into elementary schools and before you know it you have another generation of dope heads.Quote:

Well, it has been beat to death for the last 40 years...and the results have always been the same..nothing.... It's a whole lot easier to buy a bag of weed today then it was when I was 16, so if anything our course of "enforcement" for the last 40 years can be classified as totally ineffective... So if the enforcement is ineffective then the approach to the problem is wrong. It hasn't worked, doesn't work now, and won't work in the future so obviously it's time for a change...
Legalize drugs, control the legal distribution of drugs, tax the hell out of them, assign military units to DEA offices.... Cut off all aid to any country found to be exporting drugs to the US and apply the strictest possible laws governing people from those countries coming to the US for any reason... Enforce the immigration laws we have now by assigning military units to Border Patrol offices.
Other changes would of course have to be incorporated, but the big change would have to somehow come in the attitude of this country towards drugs.... Prohibition didn't work on alcohol, why should we expect it to work on drugs?????
We're on our way. I see today that there is a movement afoot to legalize pot. At the same time, we are criminalizing cigarettes.
any drug is legal if the government can tax it. pot is not that big of a deal the way i see it .there is some that can not pay for there Rx drugs for pain and have no insurance . and use a bit of pot for pain .let them grow it in the usa .close the border pot not killing. it s the a$$ holes comming over the border looking for money when the pot drys up they will be doing something else that is no good thats what they do

Unless people live with pain everyday, some of them have no idea.
I have never smoked and at 47 my lungs have about give up on me.
I live on Morphine now and it still seams like I have a engine block sitting on my chest, all of my ribs feel like they are broken because of inflammation on my lungs.
Some folks do need relief from the pain, though I don't think it is for me.
The Government is comming around in some states now though.
It's not just the border towns anymore; the DEA just busted 300 people here in Missouri and Illinois that were running drugs for the La Familia cartel. Get this; La Familia has their own doctors and treatment centers where they rehab Mexican drug users and then force them to work in their drug business that caters strictly to supplying Americans addicts and users. I saw an interview with some DEA officials on TV the other night talking about it. Can you believe it?
You know what falcon, it does not suprise me anymore. Sad but true... Even with 9-11 illegals come and go at will . Bring trailers full of dope across our borders with ease. But get this La Famila is but just 1 of the cartels. They are newbies to the game. You would never think you could see heads rolling down the street, people killed in groups of 10 and beheaded, children getting sold for sex on American soil. I'm a recovering coke and alcohol addict with 15 years clean and I have to agree with legalization. Let's spend the $$$ coming up with new and better treatments instead of filling up the jails with people who otherwise might have a chance at recovery. Sometimes I think prison will put some people over the edge for good who might have still had a chance at getting better. If my 20 year old son were an addict and wanted help; I'd rather see him in a treatment facility rather than a prison with violent crime offenders. But it's tricky. Many times they go to jail for the things that the drugs made them do rather than the drugs themselves. Legalize coke and a serious addict will still steal money to get it when he's out and needs a fix. How do we legalize that? I've worked with addicts for years and seen a lot of people die from abuse; some good friends. Bottom line is if they dont want to get better, there's little you can do for them, and not a lot of real good answers.
Not really illegal is illegal. Doesn't matter if your Irish,Russian, Asian, Jamaican,etc,etc,etc. Like I said if the Mx are taken out of the game on the border the Asians IMO will be next in line to make the money. Others just fly under the radar while everyone is concentrated on Mx. Hell ,Mexicans arent even Mexican,lol.BUT, the problem is open borders and people that come in and out. I have been all over our great country America. From one side to the other ,top to bottom ,and all in between. To pick out one race would be stupid. Assign military units to the DEA and the Border Patrol, lock down the borders, load up the busses with the infiltrators and take them back home....
Arresting users is ineffective... Works about the same as the medical community, all we're doing is treating the symptoms and not trying to solve the problem....
