Hombre's right, I shoot my 300 Mag only during hunting and some target before, to get use to (Or to remember) the kick it has. I use to shoot weekly, I don't now but back then I would target or be hunting all the time with my 9mm, 308, 30-30, and then it would be Elk hunting and I had to get use to Not getting hit in the eyebrow, cause you never want to have to tell people how you got the blackeye from the scope! I never got one! My brother had his barrel ported so it would not lift when shot, now it hits harder.
I can hit the center 5" of a paper plate at 500 yards, and I have had shots at Elk were the 1st shot landed by their feet, and 2nd took them down, thats a long way out. It's a big gun for deer.
My Dad, my brother, and I have a 300 Mag, and not one shots the same grain, or bullet shape best, all 3 shoot different.
