Hombre's right, I shoot my 300 Mag only during hunting and some target before, to get use to (Or to remember) the kick it has. I use to shoot weekly, I don't now but back then I would target or be hunting all the time with my 9mm, 308, 30-30, and then it would be Elk hunting and I had to get use to Not getting hit in the eyebrow, cause you never want to have to tell people how you got the blackeye from the scope!I never got one! My brother had his barrel ported so it would not lift when shot, now it hits harder.
I can hit the center 5" of a paper plate at 500 yards, and I have had shots at Elk were the 1st shot landed by their feet, and 2nd took them down, thats a long way out. It's a big gun for deer.
My Dad, my brother, and I have a 300 Mag, and not one shots the same grain, or bullet shape best, all 3 shoot different.
