This morning I went across town to get my "summer haircut". Got my hair cut, and got caught up on all the current dirty jokes (I love my barber). Went out to fire up the Canary and come home, and all I got was a "click". This did not bode well!!!---Next time I tried the ignition switch I didn't even get a "click"---oh My!!! I never carry tools or booster cables with me, so after a 20 second "analysis" I went around back, got down on my knees and wiggled both battery cables--(as much as I could reach of them!!).---And was answered by a familiar throaty roar when I tried the ignition switch again.
I drove straight home and into the garage. When I built the rpu 5 years ago, I built a "drop-out" battery box and installed it under the floorboards at the rear of the box.---And I have never looked at it since.
Thank god for "anti seize compound" which I used on all my fasteners when I built the rpu. The battery box did indeed drop out after I removed a few bolts, and I found the offending loose cable and tightened it up. The battery is one of those which can not be topped off with water, so other than a visual inspection and a wipe off with a damp rag nothing else was required. All is well now, and I hope I'm good for another 5 trouble free years.---BrianLast edited by brianrupnow; 08-11-2009 at 01:12 PM. Old guy hot rodder

You sound like me Brian, after I build one I hardly ever do any maintenance at all. I like building them, but hate working on them once they are done. Don's Girlfriend looked at my T sitting all dusty in the shop one day and said "Boy, your Dad sure doesn't take very good care of his car, does he?" I thought it was very considerate of it not to burp even once on my 3500 mile epic cruise , and then to die within 5 miles of home!!!Old guy hot rodder
