Ahhhhh, 1956! Flatheads forever, but wait what about those new Chevys with the 283 and wasn't the FORD Y-block strong in NASCAR? That stuff is pure nostalgia and maybe a rest for your mind in the midst of CAFE 42 mpg and plug-in hybrids. I am starting to understand the transition from horses to Model Ts and I wonder what will be the hand-me-down starter cars for teen agers 10-15 years from now? Hopefully gasoline will still be available? Maybe Chevy will survive after all and those ECOTEC 4-cyls will still be available? Maybe California will actually go bankrupt and then open up off-shore drilling? Nah, the Feds will bail out bankrupt states, print more paper money and then maybe there will be enough backlash to drill off shore WHILE the solar-windmill grid is expanded. This cold turkey "get off fossil fuels" could be handled a lot more smoothly with a transition plan. Gee, a 1976 SBC is now one of those antique engines that ran on gasoline! This is a very confusing time in history but the younger folks will adapt better because they won't know about flathead V8s! Still the classic duece shell will still probably survive and a few Grafitti Coupes replicas will keep showing up but my oh my how do you soup up a hybrid; someone will find a way. I wonder where another CD of Hot Rod Girl might be found?

Don - I got a copy from Ebay a few months back. It was paired with "The Big Wheel" starring Mickey Rooney. In "Wheel" there is a quick clip of Rooney racing a '27 track roadster. THOSE were the days...

    Don they have:

The Hot Rod Hybrid, crafted by Braille Battery to compete in the Hybrid and Electric Class of the Redline Time Attack Series, also features a roof-mounted solar panel, according to the report. The owner plans to compete in the One Lap of America race series with the car, which is claimed to be making 440 hp and can supposedly tick off quarter-mile runs in 12.9 seconds at almost 110 mph.

Kurt just watched Hotrod Girls. Pretty good flick, nice looking gals and cars.
Have you ever seen the movie Rebel of the Road aka Hotrod? It has a really nice 1940 Willy's. It's a made for tv film, but you can find it on dvd if you search for it. Maybe a few others will chime in on their favorite hotrod films, like American Grafetti, California kid, etc....
