Drag Race High
Have any of you watched this year's Drag Race High on the Speed Channel? Did you also watch it last year? I watched almost every episode of last year's show, and enjoyed it a lot. However, I can't say the same about the latest one, in fact, I think I am done watching.
What made last year's version so enjoyable for me was the way the students took the challenge seriously, and buckled down to create a couple of very fast cars and work toward a common goal. It was filmed somewhere in the South, and I liked the way all the Kids were respectful of their teachers, and were generally very nice young boys and girls.
The two schools they chose this time are out of California (I think) and there is not one Kid there who stands out to me as being sincere or even interested in winning the contest. For the most part they are pretty rowdy and more interested in getting into trouble .. What lost it for me was the egg throwing episode, where even their teacher was in on it..................what an example for a teacher to set for his students! Then he does doughnuts in the parking lot with Kids standing all around. Finally the school security came and stopped it.
Then there is the other teacher who teaches his Kids honesty by ordering parts before the contest started. There were rules, and he chose to ignore them rather than take the high road and use this as an opportunity to teach them right from wrong. If I were the Principal of those schools I would be extremely embarrassed to have my school shown in that light, and I would have two less teachers on my faculty next year.
Young people don't want teachers who are their "pals." They want and need teachers who set a good example and who will not tolerate acts of vandalism against another school.........and certainly who do not participate in that vandalism. So there, I've aired my rant........does anyone else who saw the show feel the same, or am I just overreacting?

I saw last night on fb about John. The world sure lost a great one. I'm going to miss his humor, advice, and perspective from another portion of the world. Rest in Peace Johnboy.
