The free food and beer is a good deal as well..It's a 4 hour hike each way but I don't mind it once a year.
Yep. I had the pleasure of being in the pits in the July '91 race when D. Waltrip flipped down the back stretch. Rutman got up against Waltrip and I have Rutman's fender from that wreck out in my garage.

Awesome Bill won the race and I was in his pits when he went accross the finish line.

It was a great experience, but the only racing I got to see was when they flew by on the front stretch....LOL! I got a ton of autographs that weekend. But the highlight would have to be when I got to go into the King's hauler and sit in the lounge with him and talk to him. He really is a good ole boy.

A lot of people are not crazy about the "cookie cutter" cars we see these days. For a special event I would like to see a "Good 'Ol Boys" shootout 100 laps with drivers from the past(the over 60 guys) in cars that represent the era when men were men and you could tell a Chevy,Olds,Mopar or Ford at first glance.Petty,Pearson,Waltrip, and my main man Cale and more, gettin' it on would be a real thrill.

They tried that a few years back at Charlotte(on the quarter).. Junior Johnson was running over everybody and I guess Bruton decided he didn't want anyone to get hurt. Was a pretty cool deal though, they had fairly current cars with vintage paint schemes.. My tickets fell through for this year but I'll enjoy the twins just the same from my livingroom...
I remember when hot rods were all home made.
