Here's a "tip". Last June (2008) I remember well hanging my tilt column (out of the car) from some 12 gauge wire around a garage rafter and when I brought it down to work on the universal at the bottom I dropped the column somehow on my left thumb. It hurt so much I don't remember exactly how I did it. So I thought, there goes the thumbnail, but no, the hit was below the nail so I thought I got away with it. About a month later here comes the nail broken halfway across up through the cutical. So I used superglue to glue the nail together with occasional reinforcement and this is February and that break is just now at the tip and the nail is normal again. The basic chemistry of fingernails is protein with a lot of -C-O-N- chemistry and what is in "Gorilla Super Glue" is a bunch of cynaoacrylates which is at least compatible with the chemistry in fingernails. So the next time you mash a fingernail, glue it together with super glue and wait eight months!
