jpeg is an accepted format, sounds like you may have to shrink the size. You should have gotten a message telling you the acceptable size limit. You may have a number of programs in your computer that will edit picture size, but the most basic one that comes with every PC based operating system is MS Paint. In the edit function theres a "resize" choice based on percentage of original. If you're on a MAC I'm sure there's some photo edit program there too.
