Actually, I can't say I've ever seen a rotten Syclone or Lightning.

Seen one or two rotten GN's, though and it kind of makes me cry.

We live in a recycleable world and yes the cars people throw away that [I]could[I] be fixed just amazes me. Then again my daily driver is a 16 year old Cavalier cause I can't afford any better.

I think that MOST of the old stuff (good stuff) is stashed out of reach of these types of programs nowadays, though some may still fall through the cracks.

Sadly, I've seen a couple of those big old yards "out in the sticks" close down and bring in the crusher to clear up the leftovers, just as mentioned above because it doesn't end up selling.

The "Good Old Days" are getting farther and farther away all the time...

    Regards,
    Shea

    P.S. Happy New Year, everyone!

If they are sitting in a yard rotting, it's probably because they're beyond use..... I inquired at a local yard about a Ford Lightening, or Mustang GT, Mach, etc that was buildable....said he'd be glad to put my name on the list of folks waiting, think I would have been way south of the 100th person on the list..... And that's out here in the sticks, I would imagine around the cities the list of buyers is a whole lot longer......

They're not sitting around now, so how would this law change anything???? Heck, everybody else is getting a bailout, I sure wouldn't turn one down for hauling junk!!!!!

Amen to that Ted- why should I have to pay to fund a subsidy so someone else can beifit from scrapping a car that is already out of service and not even usable.

I do not support this provision on many levels but Ted hit it on the head.

By the way I'm into fixxing up some "throw away" trucks from the 70's and 80's. I'm doing my "part" as I have purchased several for parts but will ultimately need more in the years to come. It bothers me that the government is seeking to create an artificial salvage market that is contrary to my hobby and interests... especially when I have to pay for it !!

I say let the market determine on its own what the value of a old or older car is worth. To me it's not so much about saving the cars but keeping the gov. out of the free market. I did in fact send a personal response in opposition to all my state congress peoples - not because someone told me to but because it's an issue that matters to me.
Go ahead and tell me what you think, just don't expect me to change my mind.

Which of us would be the bleeding hearts? I didn't even say I was opposed, just trying to point out that there is 2 sides to an issue. And also point out that I don't like to be told how to think on an issue.
Lots of cars need crushing, some should stay. I think a well written program to clean up our country of used up cars has some merit.

Hmmmmmm..... I'd say you're about $700 billion dollars too late on keeping the government out of the free market!!!!!!!!

I'd say you're about 50 years too late trying to get the government to stick to the laws and intent of the Constitution!!!!!! We've allowed the government to get their fingers in everything else----Why not recycling?????

Were any of the founding fathers to come back to life today, I would seriously doubt they would see much that even resembles the form of government they laid out!!!!!!!

Well, it certainly wouldn't be the first or last program of absurdity that the government has chosen to subsidize!!!!!!

This bill (S 3737) is just (add your own modifier) incredible. So if you have a car that you couldn't sell for $500 on Craigslist, but it will run and drive, our government will give you $10,000 for it toward a new car.

    GREAT!

I feel so much better knowing that these idiots are taking care of us.

    Here is the bill:
