So for all those that support this: What if this had started back in the early 70's with the gas 'shortage'. How many of the cars we're restoring now or have restored would still be around? How many of us would have the rides we do have? 20 years from now the front wheel econo boxes very well may be the ones that are being restored.
Take the 57 Chevy 4 door. They've almost become more valuable than 2 doors because everyone used them for stock cars and they were sacrificed for fun.
Besides, when is the last time our government did anything that ended up being anything but a band aid for their greed.

Go buy what you want now then......recycling scrap is a huge business, some poorly worded letter emailed to congress is not going to accomplish a thing.

Selling repairables??? To whom? It costs more to get most of these econo-boxes back on the road then anyone would pay for them.... Come on, be real..... recycling gets a lot of junk cars converted into something usable.... Want to do something about it? Then get this recycled metal used in the US for our own industry and our own jobs and not send it all overseas!!!!!!!

Dave, as usual you are the voice of reason.
Most of the cars built in the last 25 years are basically throw away cars. Planned obsolescence. Then most of the cheap cars are bought by poor people so they just drive them until they drop. The Escorts used to get a bad rap but it was all ghetto people who bought them. I got a customer once who took good care of his and it was actually a great car, same with neons, cavaliers, any number of little crapbox cars.

It was sent to me by Summit. Maybe you have to be on their "list" to open it. I dunno'? I opened it again just now. Must be blocked somehow.
It's the same letter posted by drec with a Summit header.

Well, I don't live in the city, haven't since 92 but a majority of the people with the cheap cars didn't take care of them and that's ghetto to me.
