HELP! ! N.Carolina vehicle/safety inspection
I need some help here. Does anyone know anyone that owns an inspection station in the far west part of N.Carolina?? My sons truck is coming dues for its inspection at the end of this month & it looks like I'm going on a road trip. I'd like to go to someone's shop that one of you folks know so I know that I won't be screwed with.
If anyone knows someone PLEASE let me know...thanks, joeDonate Blood,Plasma,Platelets & sign your DONORS CARD & SAVE a LIFE

Different counties have different rules in NC...Also if it's 96 or newer it falls into a different category..What town are you talking about??I remember when hot rods were all home made.

The truck is registered in Jacksonville, NC. I was told it shouldn't need a safety inspection. But I was also told that if it doesn't get inspected that there should be no problem w/the plates getting suspended, which is my main concern since my son is over seas & won't be back untill sometime in April/May/June...joeDonate Blood,Plasma,Platelets & sign your DONORS CARD & SAVE a LIFE

Joe, Most states have special provisions for the Armed Services. I would check with NC Dept of Motor Vehicles. They may have automatic extensions for people overseas.
PatOf course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

that's the answer & question I got from every one of them. Now when he comes home all he would have to do is show his deployment papers but what good does that do if the truck is being drove now. Matter of fact untill I was refused a sticker via thier website did I know his plates had been suspended because of a 5day lapse of insurance, which I have taken care of since then..joe

Jacksonville?? I thought you said western NC.....At any rate all you need to do is go to any authorized inspection place and get it inspected..If it's OBD2 plan on about 50 bucks. They are talking about doing away with the stickers and mandating an annual inspection to renew the tags..I love NC but their DMV stuff is a royal pain..They keep changing the rules. They will send you all kinds of hate mail if the inspection is out of date. Supposedly they can levy a fine for it.

I did say western NC, the truck is registered out of Jacksonville at Camp Lejeune. BUT from what I have been told I can go to any inspection station & have it done & considering I live near St Louis, Mo western NC works out the best for me...joe

The places I know are 125 miles from the border in Hickory NC. All you need is ANY NC inspection station. That or flip the title to MO and not deal with NC at all.
