    the alum block had what they call alusil walls hig silcon alum porsche mercedes honda vega and alot of small engines use no liners some use a nikasil to . gm started doing this on the CamAm reynolds bbc block as for the dry steel sleeves it can not be to bad many have used the steel sleeves with out any problems i have cut out old sleeves out of alum blocks they allways looked just fine
