I'm with Tech, Barb.

Spiders don't bother me and rats don't bother me, but snakes? Well, they just scare the very .... ah, .... stuffing out of me.

And I'm not real fond of scorpions, either.

My son (who only rarely shows signs of being intelligent) was building a retaining wall at his house when he found a fine, fat, black widow spider. He captured her and put her in a big pickle jar in his garage, and fed her whatever bugs he could find just to watch the battle. Big cockroaches, big beetles, and even scorpions. The black widow killed (and ate) them all.

Then one day he found an egg-sack in there. Then a few days later another one. And then they hatched out and there were literally THOUSANDS of baby black widows in the jar.

At that point his wife declared that the game was over and gave him an unladylike ultimatum (like "GIT RID OF THOSE #%"@<&:-# THINGS NOW!). He asked her how he was going to do that.

She made him take the microwave out in the driveway and nuke the whole jar full of his little pets. She's a mean woman.
