Yup, plans are being finalized for the move.... Got a bunch of projects to get finished here though, and clearing out of various business "involvements" is going to take about a year to get finalized.... But I was already online at Home Depot looking at possibilities for a new shop---in Texas.....

Thanks to a very good friend, and an astute businessman I cleared out of the markets about a year ago and got into some low yield but very safe things... Thank God that for once I shut my mouth and listened!!!!!!!! One very small 401K is tanked, just a leftover from years back when I once tried working for someone else... It's back to the original invested amount now....can't get at it without paying all the dang penalties so I guess it will just have to stay there and ride out the storm.....

Dave have you decided where in Tx. you are going to locate?

Memory tells me you have family or visited in Austin last yr.

A lot of the HAMB'ers live here,me included. We have a large group of rodders here and in the sister cities.

When I was in business some years ago AMD built a new plant in Austin and we built and set up their wafer handling (robotics)equipment,Good Company.

Austin has lost a lot of potential buisnesses wanting to locate here, because they want to protect the environment.Expansion of the businesses here is very difficult,so they go elswhere.

The weather has been hot and dry here this year,we are under a drought alert .We are over 10 inches behind on rainfall.

The weather is the only good news I got. Rain tonight and tomorrow, but the weekend is looking upper 70's and 80's and it's a 3 day weekend for me.

My investments are in the same condition everyone else's is at least around me. Wasn't planning on retiring for about 3 -4 years anyway, hope market comes back by then, other wise it's going to be hotdogs and cereal for my daily nourishments.

C9x's bitch about AIG reminds me of one we have here in big B (Ravens hometown). BGE/Constellation Energy is selling out to Buffet and the pres of Constellation is getting a $48 million severance package and a $30 million bonus package. So much for loyalty to stockholders. This is the third company that the bastard has scuttled for a huge profit. I can't figure out why good companies keep hiring him.

Oh well, it's going to be a long winter with the price of fuel up and furloughs and layoff's being discussed by management.

Now where did I put those hotdog rolls?

Well, Dave, We've been looking for you here in Texas since you first started making noises about relocating, maybe three years ago.

It seems to be the custom around here to advise a guy to "Git crackin" in cases like this. I don't have any idea how a man goes about "crackin" but I guess it means to move with some haste.

You probably know that we have NO state income tax here and we enjoy a comparatively low cost of living, to boot. The economy has slowed but it is still moving and there are still new homes being built.

Keep us advised, friend, and if you think of ways that we can help, then squawk.

    Jim
