The only way it tends to upset me is if I see it, say posted at 10:00 then on another forum at 10:15. I try to limit myself to two forums for most of my stuff though do belong to a few others, i.e. the Ford Truck Enthusiast and Ford Forums for my daily drivers. I also try to choose which one I post a question - for instance, paint and body work isn't the strong point here but another - great. Occasionally I'll post a question on a forum, get either no answer or ones that are I know for sure, wrong, then may go elsewhere - but not the same day.Dave W
I am now gone from this forum for now - finally have pulled the plug

Sometimes I am also looking for a consensus. You get answers all over the map....and experience tells me many are very wrong, even though the responder is an "expert", and there is no one smarter (in his mind)......but if you get the same answer repeatedly, it may be a good sign.

i honestly think its a good thing. this way you can read it, and find out how much other people think like you, more things to think about, more discussion, things you might have missed. PERSONALLY, i would rather post things about my builds on other threads because sometimes i just feel like a dumbass on here. i know my basics, thats all you need to do. one a while back was someone DEMANDING that we had no idea what we were doing, no balanced rotating assy. will spin 7000 +. well just today AGAIN, we took them out, and spun an unbalanced 355 to 75-7700 rpm. do i konw everything? no. but its those few that DO know everything. and when i ask a simple question of why? it worked for me? just curious why you think so. then i get a ... have it your way then. WHAT EVER . nuff for me.

It doesn't bother me, I do it. I know different boards have different types of people and it's good to get as many opinions as you can when you are sorting something out.
What I don't like is when someone asks for opinions and then argues with you after you state it or someone who disagrees with you gets on you about what you like/dislike.

Well folks. I'm new to the pre 40 hot rod stuff. Not as new as I was a year ago though. Oh shush! So I'm still new. But I'm getting there. I do actually soak up what is said. I too am guilty of this. I only post hot rod related things on one other forum. I hope for as much input as possible....and gotta admit....I've gone back and read my posts and realized that I need to stop posting foolish questions. Bob...I agree....you guys have once again (actually learned this years ago....lost it somewhere along the line) taught me to at least 'try' to be more self sufficient and diagnose my trouble. I also belong to sites that I would concider devoted to one specific subject related to my project. For instance....Digital Corvettes (for C4 IRS related stuff).....Pro Touring (for what I'd call the really odd suspension/big brake fabs...truth is...I've found my answers here for the most part)....LS1 forum (for subjects related to my LS1). None of it is meant to offend anyone....I'm just a multi-tasker. I still value a myriad of opinions! Its just like a book guys....when I go to the library doing research....I dont just grab one book related to my subject matter.....I grab several.
I've made good friends on both hot rod related sites. Some of these friends have PM'd me stating that they dont go to the other site any more (and vice-versa) and have moved because they didnt feel welcome at one site or the other (oh man....my A.D.D. is kicking in). Example: (Wont name names!) Someone on this site (Who I appreciate for their help on something related to my hood), left the "Other" site because someone there had made disrepectful remarks to them. I really dont know why someone would do that cause he's a really great guy. That point blank 'ticks' me off. The thing is....there is always going to be someone that doesnt like helping....or just doesnt think someone deserves the help. The way I look at it....if someone doesnt want to help me....I dont let it bother me....someoneelse out there is happy to help. For the most part....I feel welcome both places and hope to remain a member and 'pay it forward' to someone else later.
With that said....I like both sites (and the other is "not" the H.A.M.B......the H.A.M.B. is not family oriented enough for my likes)...and value everyones thoughts and suggestions. Appreciate you guys!

I too am guilty of this but for a couple of reasons. My other forum specializes in old ford trucks, but not necessarily hotrods, so there is some overlap there. Also sometimes I have a limited time to deal with a problem and post two places to double my chance of getting a fast response.
I never double post for lack of confidence in someones advice, just quick reponses to things that need to be done today, or may fall into a specialty area." "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

This is a great site Ken. Ford truck enthusiast has a bunch of ford f1 owners that are good for missing stock parts questions. But this site by far rocks.Last edited by stovens; 09-22-2008 at 11:58 PM.
