Another point for Summit Racing
I got two of my new rims from UPS today, the rears are somewhere around Winnipeg??? I opened the box to find out that they had dinged them during shipping, I phoned UPS and got no help. I phoned Summit and it was quick and easy and he said a new one is being shipped out today no charge. He said they might come get the other one but don't worry about it if they don't. That's some of the best customer service I've ever had.

I purchased 4 wheels from Summit about 7 years ago. One of the 4 had had it's outer rim flatten slightly during shipping. They sent me a new one out and I sent the damaged one back. They paid for shipping the new one and gave me a refund for the shipping I paid to return the damaged one. All this took place over a 3 day period. They also had the lowest prices on the wheels.
They were great and that's one of the reasons I like dealing with them and go to them first.Bob

I bought my Ford Motorsport crate motor thru them - and had it delivered to a local trucking terminal terminal to save the $70 home delivery charge. My shipping cost was -- $7.95 plus the $3-$4 for gas in my pick up. Soooooo - while I like Jeg's, Summit just seems to do a better job for me.
They sent me the wrong torque converter - three days later I had the right one, plus they had UPS pick up the incorrect piece.
There have been a couple of other instances where they just sent a small part incorrectly, then have just shipped a new one without returning the other.
I have ordered wrong - called them, they've sent out the right part and I returned the wrong one and had quick a credit to my cardDave W

We've also had good customer service from Summit. They stepped up to the plate on my Son's defective TCI tranny when TCI wouldn't. They kicked in $ 75 to help defray shipping costs when they didn't have to.
They have also been very good about returned items that we bought and couldn't use. I am not nuts about their "handling" fee, but I guess it balances out when you get good service like we have gotten.

I bought a pair of P285/70R-15 tires from them, and the shipping was only about $7.00 each. They also have replaced/taken back stuff that was messed up in shipping.
I heard that Barry Grant stopped using Summit because of their liberal return policy. Of course, the correct response would have been to improve quality, not limit returns.Jack

I used to work Summit Racing customer service at night (Akron, Ohio). They do a great deal of business with UPS. The cust serv rep sends info to UPS the same moment he is talking to you. Every night I was sending stuff out and charging UPS back. Seems like they would try hard not to throw stuff around. Oh well, they can't be bothered. They just got really good at paying for all those damage claims!"Chance favors the prepared mind"

I have nothing but good things to say about Summit and I think their web site is great. With their guaranteed lowest prices it can't be beat. It's almost dumby proof. As a matter of fact I'm waiting for UPS to deliver my latest purchase now.

Summit has treated me great as well, when the items got slightly dinged in transit. They respond quickly and readily accept your claim(s). UPS has always had a don't give a damn attitude about avoiding damage. I guess thay feel it's better to bounce the items to you, and just pay up if one has a claim. Wonder how much UPS eats in these situations, or if someone like Summit just takes the responsibility to ensure customer satisfaction.Last edited by roofcam; 08-07-2008 at 03:14 PM.

I'v had good service too... My MSD 6 BTM box sat in the box for 3 months, then I installed it and it ran on the car for a few hours, and 1 day killed my battery and after a new battery, it still would not start.. I called MSD and they said they would repair it, up to $75 at there cost, then I had to pay everything else. called Summit and told them, shipped a new 1 out with a return lable stuck in the box- rush delivery tooYou don't know what you've got til it's gone

And another 'atta boy for Summit - I screwed up and "pulled" the oil pump drive out of the pump yesterday when I went to prime the engine for first fire so am pulling the pan to replace the shaft with a new one as I feel that I've scored the side and don't need a stress riser to cause a break in East Nowhere. I ordered a new drive via the internet along with a couple more parts, but forgot the pan gasket. An hour later, I called them to see if I could add the gasket to the order. It was already packed, but they were able to pull it out of line, add the gasket and I should have my materials on Monday,Dave W

I bought an engine kit with 30 over pistons/rings because thats what the machine shop told me I needed. When I took the kit to machine shop they took it to 40. That was our fault but Summit did not care they paid for all the shipping to send me correct 40 over and ship back the incorrect 30's.

One more plug, they gave me a free cap with my first order. Their sevice fee isn't to bad, as long as you buy a few things at a time, and don't forget stupid small stuff, like I do. Also like that if I order before noon, I generaly get the ordered item the next day. The guys on the service line have been very helpfull when trying to figure out what alternator to order, and make sure it fit my application. Great company!" "No matter where you go, there you are!" It is dummy proof! Hell, even my wife orders parts for me from Summit, and they always seem to send the right product.Bob

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
