Hope our California friends are ok.

Just heard the news of the 5.4 quake centered around LA. Hope everyone out there is ok. When I lived in So Cal we experienced a couple of very minor quakes, and they are a little unsettling to say the least.

These are some trying times; I can’t remember a time in my life that so many things were causing such destruction. I also hope for the best, and people living around that area are safe.

    When did this happen?
    11:42am......

It was a sharp jolt then some slight rolling lasted about 15 seconds....Nothing major at all. Just doing a little earth surfing It looks like one freeway overpass may have some damage other than that it's all minor.

John, I think she is ok, the reports are that not much happened injurywise, at least what they are saying right now. The phones are jammed up because everyone is trying to find out how others are and to touch base with family and friends. She probably isn't getting any action on her phone.

I felt it and I'm about 140 miles away. We haven't had a good sized quake since the early 90s.

Seems like everyone is alright. I haven't seen any posts from Ken in a while. I figure he's out on vacation, or away for buissness. His area should be ok, as it's close to my relatives, all who are fine, just a little shaken!

    It really wasn't that bad...
I was here for the '71 Sylmar quake(6.6) lived about 10mi from the epicenter, it was bad.
I was here for the '87 Whittier Narrows quake (5.9) lived about 45mi from the epicenter, that one wasn't too bad.
I was here for the '94 Northridge quake (6.7) lived in Northridge....right on top of it.....it was real bad.

For those that that have never been through one 5.4 in Cali isn't bad......the worst part is everyone is on the phone.....so no one can get through......

Been in California all my life. I remember the one we had in 57, I ran out side and laid on my stomach and watched the waves on the street. I'll take earth shaking over tornados and hurricanes any day. Usually by the time you realize what it was, it's over.
