    The Coke Zero 400 . . .

. . . sure doesn't have the zing of The Firecracker 400, does it?

The race didn't have a lot of zing either. I don't mind watching real races, but these green-white-checker finishes - particularly those that end with a yellow - just don't cut it.

These guys seem to go all stupid in the last 30 laps, and there's nothing to watch except for crash after crash. There were SIX freakin cautions in the last 30 laps, and only FIVE in the first 130.

Is this bumper cars, demolition derby, or what?

I agree....I think part of the problem is the over confidence in the new car. These things can bump and bang a lot more than the old one and keep on going.
You don't see as many "big ones" either. I watched a bunch of sideways in this race that would have been big wrecks with the old car.

Sponsor pressures, type A personalities, the importance of every position you can get for the extra points, the competitive nature of racing..;....take your pick... It seems to be a case of checkers or wreckers almost every week. The new car is a confidence builder cuz it's a driver's car, when it gets sideways or bounces off something or someone it keeps going.... Is this better or worse then the old car???? Matter of choice, I guess. I like racing and prefer a green-white-checkered finish over a running the last 10 laps under a yellow.... Three laps to go, you're running 8th, you can see the leader, the right move can move you up 5 spots (and 20 points) whatcha gonna do???? The guys with a brain will see who screws up and try to drive around the wreck..... Guys like me are gonna flat foot it and go for the front......Maybe if I'm in the top 12 and we're in the "chase" mode of the season I'm gonna react differently.....

    Dave,

I understand the drivers' problem. It just seems less fun to watch when they spend a huge portion of time in the last 30 laps under yellow. It's almost as bad as a yellow finish.

Yeah, but racers are racers... When the whole thing comes down to 350 laps of working yourself into position to be up front and strong for the last 50...... No real cure for it. I sure do like it a lot better then the follow the leader no passing stuff though. Hate to see all the good cars get torn up every week, but I sure do understand how it happens......

Dad used to always tell me that 3rd place was better then crashed......I'd always smile and agree.....right up till the time the push truck started pushing the car off for the main!!!!!!!! and of course here about it all the way home when things went bad.....
