Barb, the highest priced car is still less then half what it takes to get a Chip, Foose designed car for the La Roadster Show.
That shows there are still good buys out there!!!

To have a car that nice, you can save your money until you get over 300,000 bucks but then once you spend it you then have HIGH rate of insurance. You have to be rich or make a LOT of money to own and keep a car that nice. Even if you save enough to buy it, you have to make enough to pay the insurance, upkeep, and gas. As for the Mercedes junk, why have over 600HP and it stops it at 155MPH? I know there is a chip (or something similar) that you can buy from overseas (so I've heard) to fix this but still. As for the Ford GT500's, I don't know about that. They look nice and supposedly ARE nice but I've also heard that they aren't all that people make them out to be. I'd rather spend $40,000 bucks on an old hot rod and have something DIFFERENT!
That's just my oppinion though.www.streamlineautocare.com

The Mercedes junk you are talking about doesn't have a speed limiter in it.

The listing for the 2008 Mercedes S & CL 65 AMG states "Top speed (as with many high-performance German cars) is electronically limited to 155 mph."

They dont go over 155MPH so what do you call that? I am not being a smart ass, I know it sounded like it but I dont know how else to type it lol. I saw on TV the same exact thing and that link even says it. I heard it is something that the computer has on it.www.streamlineautocare.com

Cheer up...........one of the local Ford dealers had an ad in Craigslist the other day on a new GT 500..............said "Make Offer". I guess those $5000+ side stickers they had last year are history.

I have a SLR Mclaren and mine doesn't have a mph limiter. Maybe everyone else's does, if so mine slipped threw.

If i had that kind of cash to play with i could go buy a ZZ572 crate motor form summit for $13,500 that makes 620 HP and 650 ft lb. under 6000 rpm. Then build a suspention for an older Camaro for about $10,000, dip it paint and have about $225,000 for gas.

Same thing down here, they were getting $10,000 over for Z06's, now they have 6 in stock for sticker or less.

If you blink there will always be one faster. Next up the Koenigsegg CCXR. A very shapely carbon fiber car with a twin supercharged 4.8 liter V8 producing 999hp, 2.9 seconds to 62 mph, 254 top speed on E85 fuel, all for a meer $2.4 million greenbacks. And, oh, for as little as an additional $17,000 you can get a set of magnesium carbon fiber wheels to go with it.

Unfortunately I'm not wealthy. If I were I might be hanging out on the Ferrari forum instead of here. But after watching much of the Le Mans race (about 12 of the 24 hours), the Corvette team did exceptionally well and would have won their class and beat the Aston Martins if it were not for brake caliper problems that cost them repair time. Considering that the basic Vette is about $62k before adding the go fast goodies, it really is a helluva buy.Bob

Very nice car BTW. Of course even though I don't like Mercedes, their very high end stuff such as yours is nice. Noone can say they aren't. As for the limiter, yours must have slipped through or been brough straight over without it. In the pic with you and your wife, please take the helmet off the car. Your going to scratch the paint.
