Thread: SOOOOO, what did you get done last weekend ?

I have seen similar threads before, it's neat to see what other folks are doing and getting done,.... this was my weekend

------------------------------------------------------------------------- I decided to prove for myself that money doesn't come with instructions,..... I found this 37 Ford that had been sitting in a garage in Royal Oak Mi. for 10 years,... the price was right,..... sooooo I bought it, I asked my wife if she wanted to ride down with me and I would drop her off at the mall so she could shop with her sister while I load this pile up.

Dropped her off at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday,... went to pick her up at 1:05 P.M.,....... they just needed to go into a couple more stores,.... sat in the truck, read my new issue of Rodders Journal, fell asleep 3 or 4 times,... woke myself up snoring 3 or 4 times,..... 7:00 P.M. she's ready to go, met with sister in law and her husband for dinner , "They" decide it's to late to drive home,... we'll spend the night,.

Sunday morning, ad on the radio, car show & swap meet at Gebralter Trade Center 10 miles from where were at,.... hot digitty dog,... lets go! my Wife and sister can shop, I'll check out the swap meet and show,.... we pull in at 10:30 a.m. and I drop her off at the door,.... pull around the building maybe 50 cars and 2 swap meet vendors,..... 10:50 a.m.,... I'm ready to go,... Tina says "we just want to look at a few more things, we'll be done in a couple minutes" 3:45 p.m. we leave,...... drive a few miles and she sees a gigantic Jo-Ann fabrics store,...... "can we just stop for a minute ?" we pull out at 5:25 p.m.

She tells me that the outlet store in Birch Run closes at 6:30 p.m. and we HAD to stop, cause she really needs something there and thats the place she really wanted to go when she came with me in the first place,...... On a good day it's about 1 hour from where we were to Birch run,..... so we take off,... the big ol' F-350 with a engine, frame and a bunch of other stuff in the bed, the back seat stuffed with shopping bags, the 37 body strapped down to the stretcher with all the fenders, boards, hood seats,... everything stuffed inside,..... flying down the highway (not exactly doing the speed limit),..... I get there in 50 minutes to find that not only was the outlet mall open until 7:00 p.m. but that the store she HAD to go to went out of business a couple months ago, so she shopped for a while anyway,................... had a hot turkey sandwich at Tony's Truck Stop,...... and made it home at 9:00 p.m. Sunday night. than Both my sons called and wished me a happy Fathers Day.

Even with all the "shopping" I still had a blast, I got a grin every time I looked in the rear view mirror and seen that 37 looking back at me, and it made me feel good that she was having fun,..( I never even rushed her out of any stores). Would I do it again ?, as long as my traveling companion was the same,... I'd do it in a heartbeat. I had a great Fathers day weekend.
