    Wow

    What drives me crazy?

Those that claim to be unique or different and then create rat rod or hot rod that looks like a thousand other cars (i.e.e thiun white walled tires, satin plack paint with red accents!).
Takes a lot of imagination or courage to do the same thing as everyone else.

I am tire of the recent rash of car snobs. They range from the super rich snobs that have the cash to horde every particular style of car in the free world and have them all restored to better than mint condition and turn up their noses at any one who has any less that that level of perfection…all the way to the new breed of “brat rod” owners that build their fake weathered hot rods that are supposed to be some twisted version of a traditional rods, back during a time long before they were born (or even a glimmer in their father’s eye) and are so judgmental and insultive to anyone that wants to build anything less than a similarly dangerous and dark version of the past. (when did my generation of bobby sockers get tattoos and piercings?)

Don’t get me wrong I love all forms of the hobby.. the work of art concord cars, the creative hot rods, street racers, beaters and rat rods.. its just the attitude I have been sensing from the owners. There are some websites that I simple steer clear of due to the judgmental attitudes and foul comments that are unleashed on any one that thinks differently than the faceless crowd. This site is certainly just the opposite!

Why can’t all car lovers just revel in the fact that anything that is powered by a fire breathing combustion engine is pretty darn cool and if it reflects the owners’ personal style then it is worth respect.
    Hey GulfCoastGasser,

I agree with flh4speed, seems you just don't like the Traditional / Rat Rod style or the super rich and you have set yourself above all of that, so which kind of elitist snob are you? somewhere between the "Super Rich" snob and the "Brat Rod" snob I guess,..... huh?.

I thought someone, somewhere on this thread said,..

"Why can’t all car lovers just revel in the fact that anything that is powered by a fire breathing combustion engine is pretty darn cool and if it reflects the owners’ personal style then it is worth respect".

It's like I said before, the snobs and self proclaimed "experts" have always been in Hot Rodding and they always will be,...... careful man, your inner snob is showing.

Hey guys - we're losing it !!! We used to be 'user friendly' on this Forum and had a good reputation for being open minded. Let's not mess with a good thing. There have been some folks that have gone elsewhere for a variety of reasons - including, server problems and impatience. Let's not get confrontational. A good spirited discussion is great, flame jobs aren't and this is getting close.

    Please !!!!

    Dave,

Sadly, some people just thrive off the conflicts.

There was no offense intended,.... however, we should all consider where we personally are on a certain subject before we call others out on the same thing.

I have friends that fit in both categories, very rich collectors and very low dollar builders, the one common thread that brings all levels of Hot Rodders together is there love of Hot Rods and Hot Rodding.

I have helped first time builders with advice to build a safe car, and always encouraged them to build the car they see in there mind, not what everyone else thinks they should build. If there vision of the perfect Hot Rod is a 50's style highboy that has been done over and over again, If that's what they want, Thats what they should build, no matter how many others almost just like it are on the road now. If they want to build a 36 Chrysler Airflow sectioned with a raised top,..... Have at it,.. just make it safe.

On the other side I have been in peoples homes and garages that I couldn't afford the doormat for,.... If they have found there fortune somewhere else, but have there Hot Rod professionally built or restore a historical Hot Rod, thats great !.

I am really into Hot Rods and have been as long as I can remember, I don't care who you are , where you came from, how much money you do or don't have, where you live, or what your vision of the perfect Hot Rod is, If were both gear heads,... we will probably get along, unless you start trashing someone else's Hot Rod vision because it doesn't fall in line with your own.

Sorry guy's I am usually not this long winded or opinionated, but on a forum dealing with a true passion of mine I would be remiss, if I didn't say anything.

*Once again,... If I said something that offended any of you I am truly sorry,
and offer a heartfelt apology, please keep in mind this is only my opinion*

Unfortunately, this United States - Canada as well, I suspect, is getting too much that way - but that's for another discussion/thread

Let's blame it on the hot weather, high humidity, getting old, loosing hair, gaining weight.
And whatever else we can get by with, and do some bench racing, no energy for bench pressing. Bring back the humor, and fun stuff to the lounge.

No no no... You guys have taken me the wrong way... I don't dislike the cars, just the opposite I dig every car from stock to kustom and eveything in between. I just get peeved when the owners put down others cars. I obviously have not made my point clear.
Sorry if I PO'ed any one on this site...I meant just the opposite.

    I'm not prejudiced....I hate everyone.............LOL

Live and let live....Not everyone can build a car, should they not be allowed to enjoy one?

If someone is snobbish towards you, go the other way.......who needs 'em.
