This day in history at 2PM on 4-16-1980

At about 2pm on 4-16-1980 I married the love of my life, Denise. It's been a long trying 28yrs, but so far we have been able to handle all the ups & downs & are the proud parents of a set of twins Nicholas & Natalie(our Angels) and our son Joe who is in the Marine's.

I had known Denise for 10yrs when we got married. I happen to meet her at one of the states employment offices after not seeing her for about 6yrs & couldn't believe my eyes when we seen each other. Personally I believe she had it all planned out already, because on our 1st date I went to pick her up & she had been drinking & passed out before we could even get out of the house. So being the gentleman that I am I put her in bed & covered her up, locked the doors & went home. The 2nd date we had I asked her to pick up a 6pack for me & what does she show up with?? A 6pack of TALL BOYS, 24oz cans of Miller, and the rest was history.

In reality I did have to ask her to marry me twice. When she finally said "YES" I had to ask why she didn't answer me the first time. She told me that she was in a state of shock & couldn't believe that I wanted to get married so soon after getting together. We had lived w/each other for only 4-5 months before I popped the question. Hell I knew she was the one for me because of the way I felt when I was & am around her. What gets me is it's hard to believe she has put up w/my cr@p for 28+ years, but then I've put up w/hers too.

But then I KNOW I got the better end of the deal....joe

Yep, there is something to be said for a woman who knows how to drink! That is how I met mine, at a club, and she was able to out drink me.

Congratulation on your Anniversary. Sounds like you two are still having fun after all these years. Wish you many, many more.

28 years? Shoot, you two are just newlyweds. My wife & I are coming up on 37! Amazingly, we still like each other.

Seriously, congratulations. Nowdays its all too common for a relationship to fall apart before it reaches 5 or 10 years. Over half of my students have a step-parent or a single parent at home...

Joe....What a great testimony to the vow of matrimony! Congrats to you and your honey!

I just remembered. Our 39th anniversary is coming up in a few weeks on May 8th. Holy Cow...my friends were all wrong. They only gave me 6 months to be married. (LOL)

    Congratulations Joe!

Wow! What a coincidence! I married Denise too! But I got her on July 15, 1978! Nearly two years before you. Still got mine, I assume you still got yours. Guess we are just two lucky guys.
