I tried several times today to come to this site, I hit the address in my favorites as always. But it kept sending me to another www.clubhotrod.com.
(exact same address) This site was a link site for purchase of cars. Has anyone else had this happen in recent days?
Yes---it happened to me also. It said that the registration had expired on that domain name (clubhotrod.com) and that I could buy that domain name and use it for a website of my own if I wanted to!!!:eek: :eek: :eek:
Either someone forgot to pay the bills or there was a hiccup in the domain server.

I mentioned earlier that I couldn't log on for most of the morning because I kept getting redirected to a site that looks like it sells domain names. I even went in through the back door and googled CHR and even doing it that way I got the same thing.
Another member just PM'd me on another forum and posted this:
Nope, I still get the same deal. Looks like the domain name doesn't even go anywere but to a page that sells domain names. I hope Brent hasn't decided to pack it in with CHR. If you hear anything about it, let me know.
So, if two of us are having the same exact problem there must be others, and it can't be the same glitch in his computer and mine too. Anybody else????

So, it wasn't just me :HMMM:.....Either DNS issues or hijack attempt. For a while I thought I might need to reconfigure my DNS server.....
Duh, I just read down the threads and found one already on this subject. :o :o
Well, evidently something IS going on, and some people are still not able to get on here.

I finaly got on and tried to post earlier, then when I hit enter I got redirected to that site again. Been happening all day.
....yes, I also got directed to that site all day yesterday! It looked as if the fee's for the domain name weren't paid on time :(.... It mentioned something about even when the fee's were paid there could be a gap between paying & being able to log on..... Bill

I had the same problem yesterday. I finally got on about 8:00 PM last evening. Everything seemed normal by then and I was able to post some new pics to my build thread...:HMMM:

Yep. I was locked out yesterday, too. It kept taking me to the place to purchase domain names... Everything was back to normal by the time I got back to it around 8:00 PM.:HMMM:
I've come to expect that at least once or twice a week this site goes kafooey - and this is even since Brent built new servers.
Oh well - if I need my 'fix' there are a couple of others I can make an a$$ of myself on until this one comes back up:LOL: :LOL:
I couldn't get in until just before 1:00 p.m. yesterday. I did the same as others, did a search for CHR and it still took me to domain name site. I thought maybe the site was closing. I just posted earlier that this is the best site on the net. I'm
hoping it does not shut down.

Well, it sure looks like the problem is pretty widespread. I hope the following comments don't come across as ungrateful, but I think it is important to say.
For some reason this site goes down way too often. Sometimes it is just a momentary thing........you try to log on and get a one-liner that says the site isn't available, but a little while later it comes up. And sometimes it goes down for a day or so. The "new server" or whatever it was that came from overseas (or wherever) was supposed to clear up the issues, but sometimes it seems worse now. I sort of hold my breath anytime I log on now, wondering if the familiar CHR logo will come up or if I will get some other screen, or a time-out notice.
My fear is that we are losing and going to lose members who become frustrated and who stop coming on. I get PM's from members pretty often, on here and on other sites, who are saying "what's up with CHR, I can't log on?" Some have indicated they have had it, and I see less participation or no participation from some of those members lately.
I think I speak for most of the membership when I say I love this forum. It is the first thing I check in the morning and the last thing I check before going to bed at night. But I have to say I rarely see any of the computer glitches on any of the other 4 or 5 forums I frequent that I see on here. Size doesn't seem to be an issue, some of them are very large and some are very small.
My comments are only meant in the most constructive way.

I just got another PM on a different forum. This is typical of what I get:

As for the other comments, you have to remember that the server this site is on shares it's bandwidth and space with two others which draw far more system resources. At times when you are talking about terrabytes worth of data (think 200 lane wide highway jammed with 1,000,000 cars a minute passing by) between these sites, then you'll understand what happens and why.
As for members coming and going, as with any site/forum, this happens quite a bit, you get burned out on a subject, get your feelings mangled, or just have had enough banter and decide to log off for a while, or not log off and just lurk. There are several Mustang and Cobra sites I used to post to on a semi hourly basis, post counts beyond 10,000 on a few of them.....Now I spend most of my time lurking, and rarely if ever make posts at all. Why, because I burned myself out and decided to take a break from it all.

Don mentioned the problem to me yesterday and I responded that it could be a software hijacker. I have had problems with that stuff before and still occasionally do. (If you visit websites, you can be subject to get one of those nasties, even if you don't download anything.)
But obviously in this case the problem was at the server and not on Don's pc, which is a good thing.:D
I usually don't have any problems with the site, unless the site is totally down. Guess I'm lucky.:rolleyes:

heck CHR won't open for me on AOL, even today. && I thought it was just me..joe

Now this is strange, I can login in with IE like I am now but when I try to use AOL I get sent to the Network Solutions site. :confused:
Nope it is not you, even now it won't open on AOL but I have no problem when I use Internet Explorer.
Same problem for me this morning, site was down according to my error message, but works now!:eek::( :CRY:
Yup, Brent forgot to renew the domain name on time and the temp page comes up from his original registrar. Now that he placed the renewal, the DNS information has to be sent out and acknowledged by all of the ISP's and DNS (name) servers...........Give it a bit of time and it will open again on AOL (the slowest of all DNS name servers).........

, yet still find time to keep this site coherent and spam free (it's what you don't see that is really scary).....Well, that is it for me, it's a little after 6pm and I'm actually going to get out of the shop before 8pm......In closing, each and every end user must decide for himself (herself) whether it's worth it to stay, in my case, I'm here and will remain so as long as I can type on the keyboard, for others they may decide to move on, for most I would think that a little hiccup every now and then (most lately caused by purposeful DOS attacks from abroad) is no cause to bail on the forum. Once again, it's up to you as the individual end user(s) to decide......

well if you or brent do not have the time then why not let somone run it or can you sell it ? there got be a better way? or not ?. sounds like you are both burnt out ??and have no time to spare???
I could not get on here from one computer ,but used my old one and it worked.
