down here i new zealand its hovering around $1.90 NZD for 96 octane, slightly more for 98 octane and slightly less for 91 octane per litre. it doesnt bother me much, my impala with stock 283 and 3.36 gears a few years ago would take about $70 to go from Blenheim to Christchurch here which is 311 kilometres, about 200 miles and with prices now and the big block and 3.0 gears in the same car its only $100 for the same trip nursing the loud button, lookin at it that way it doesnt seem so bad. hotrods and old tin here are mostly hobby cars only driven on weekends so a weekends gas every now and then when ya take it out isnt so bad. no ones cars mileage has changed aye it just costs more to put the gas in, if i myself was concerned about fuel prices id own a scooter or rice rocket but yea its gettin worse here, the government wants to add another 40c per litre tax on aswell and we're already taxed on it! AND paying tax and road user charges on our rego

Just for the record, one US gallon = 4 quarts and 1 quart = 0.946 Liters. So

    ($1.90 NZD/Liter) x (0.946 Liter/quart) x (4 qt/gallon) = $7.19 NZD/US gallon

but I do not know the exchange rate for $NZD to $USD.
