My wife wanted me to turn on one of her favorite tv shows a couple of nights ago. It was to start at 9 PM so she asked me to change the channel at about 8:58. I told her there was no point because of the commercials on the lead in. She didn't believe me until she sat through 10 uninterrupted minutes of commercials before the show actually started at 9:11. She was pissed. So in reality the average one hour show that used to be about 45 minutes long is now just 35 minutes in total. At this rate, I can see a TIVO in my future.

A good friend will come and bail you out of jail....but a true friend will be sitting next to you saying..."Damn....that was fun!

What some of the shows do is give you a 5 or so minute "update" from last weeks show. The one regular show that I do watch is Survivor. At least 5 minutes is wasted there with the "previously" BS before they go into the first 5 minute commercial. So - I just use my VCR and fast forward (too cheap to invest in TiVo with at least 4 VCR/DVD combos including one in the camper)
