Must be nice Denny! my toyota truck only gets 14mpg, and its only a six banger!! My buddies f250 gets the same, and its twice the size of mine!!

I dunno how the heck they figure mpg nowdays....
I always thought you divided the number of gallons it took since your
last fill up into the number of miles traveled.

My wife and I have a Prius and everyone pizzes and moans about the
FACT that it doesn't get the mileage advertised.
The're right. Wifie and I get 61 to 64 all the time.

Perhaps we're doing something wrong.......now that I think of it, I'm sure we are otherwise why would the EPA have dropped the supposed mileage down to 45.

I really don't know what to believe....

On a related issue, I mentioned recently that my gas milage had fallen off on my Crown Vic daily driver. Next to last fillup I only got 150 miles on the 15 gallong tank, so 10 mpg average. So last fillup I switched to hi test instead of the regular grade I had been using.

My car is getting ready for a fillup again, but this time I have 225 miles on the same 15 gallon tank! I drive the same places all the time, basically to the shop and to the grocery store (I lead a very dull life ) Nothing changed except moving up to hi test, so my conclusion is that although my car was designed to run on regular, hi test burns more efficiently, or perhaps regular gas has gotten so bad that it is running through my car like water.

Dan has a Honda and he has been complaining too because he normally gets about 36 mpg, but lately has been only getting about 26. Could it be that the gasoline companies are giving us a lower quality product AND CHARGING US MORE????????? No, what was I thinking, they would NEVER do anything underhanded..........slap my wrist for even thinking such a thing.

That would be like the tobacco companies putting something in the tobacco to keep people hooked...........that would never happen either. lol

Thats very possible and even more possible would be the gas station itself cheating you....
Proper tune up ,driving habits and correct tire pressure are a few things to looka at when wanting good fuel mileage.

My sis has owned several Geo Metro all have gotten at least 43mpg & as high as 53mpg. The one she has now gets 45-48mpg all the time. Now I know not everyone would drive one but why did the stop making them when everyone is screaming about MPG's....joe

I've heard stories like that all my life - somebody bought a 50's land yacht, brand new, and it was getting something unbelieveable in the mpg department, took it into the dealer for the first tune-up and never saw the same numbers again. The dealership couldn't explain it.



It would seem to me that with all the engineers in Detroit that one of the Big 3........are they still the Big 3?.....would be going for the silver bullet when it comes to alternative-powered vehicles. What about Natural Gas or Propane? They used to be fringe vehicle fuels. Now, no one that I know of has those set-ups and I understand that we have at least 100 years of natural gas in the Gulf.

Could it be that someone, somewhere just isn't interested in the US being energy independent?..........I hate sounding like a conspiracy theorist.
