    Stolen 57 Nomad

    Got this email today.......

    "Gentlemen,

We have a dear friend who had his Nomad stolen yesterday. We, members of all the California woodie clubs, are trying to get the word out to as many car guys as possible. I’ve attached a flyer. If you could pass it on to all the car guys and their clubs that you know may be it can be recovered. Thanks a bunch!"

    WOW.... WHAT A RIDE !!!"

We are sorry to hear that.
My advice to you is go to every single automotive forum you can.
    Chevy,Dodge,Ford,Import.
Watch e-bay,any internet buy or sell place.
Contact all the other local body shops, parts places, car lots etc.
Put the flyers up all over towm and any other towns in the area.
This happened to a good customer of mine.
He had a pro-street 70 Chevelle that he had a bunch of money in.
He left the roller in his drive-way while him and his wife went shopping one Saturday afternoon.
He came back about three hours later and it was gone.
The car was found less than 30 miles from his home.
A guy that reads the gas meters was walking in the thiefs back-yard to read the meter and say part of a bright orange car sticking out of a couple blue tarps.
If we would'nt have had bad storms with very hi winds the gas man would have never seen the car.
He had seen the flyer at a local auto parts store the weekend before and called the police and my customer.
When the police went to the house with a search warrant they found an entire garage filled with stolen parts along with a meth. lab.
The thief is now doing time for grand theft auto, making meth/distributing meth, taking and recieving stolen parts, not to mention the kiddie porn the found at his house and the list goes on and on.
When they tried to arrest the guy that same day he tried to sneak out the bathroom window naked and the foot race was on.
They caught him a 1/2 mile from his house trying to hide.
    Justice was served that day.

A buddy of mine also had his stolen car found by a meter reader..... It was in a car port at an apartment complex. The meter reader was a friend of a friend that had heard about it.

Wow! That really sucks! I too hope it's recovered. I think that getting the word out and posting flyers in as many places as possible is, like Erik said, about the only thing you can do. The internet helps get the word out, as these are often transported elsewhere as quickly as possible.

My dad had a '55 Chevy Convertible stolen from him back in the mid 70's. He never did get it back. I hope your friend has better luck.

You know, I got to thinking about something that both you and Erik mentioned regarding the Meter Readers, I don't know if it would help; but, I'm sure it couldn't hurt, perhaps your buddy could send a copy of the flyer off to the utility company asking them to pass it on to their readers just to keep an eye out for it. If you two both know somebody that had cars recovered just by chance because a meter reader had heard about it through the grapevine, lightning may strike a 3rd time if you guys passed the info on to them asking for their help.

    Just a thought....

Anyway, I really do hope that your friend recovers his Nomad.
