Thread: Scary situation

here in this town that we live in, we have ahd two mountain loins come in
to town, one this last week was at some folks back door looking in ,the home
is just on the out skirts of town, the first one was this last summer,it was in town,one block from high school,3 1/2 blooks from the private school our grand daughter goes to. they were both males,2 to 3 years old,well over 100 lbs. each, they have no clue where they are coming from, hell ! I pack my nine or the 38 just to go take the grabage out the alley,(never know right?)
i know has nothing to do with cars but I thought I'd just share it with you all..

people are swearing that they are seeing the big cats around here also
but our game commission just keep saying that it's not possible.
I guess someone will have to get hurt or worse until they believe it.

here both cats had to be killed,but when print on our paper it's
in some little corner,like they are trying to hide it from the public,
it's like you said, someone is going to have to get hurt before they
really let us know, it's a small town and not everyone gets the paper
including me , it's know as last weeks news paper

We have the same problem here in our small town in Nebraska. The mayor called the game and parks and they said we couldn't shoot them, make a bet. One of our elem. teachers was out running on a country road and came face to face with one lion. In western Neb. they have a season on lions this year. I dont care what month it is, if its between them or my grandkids its gone.

I had a big woodchuck digging under my garage, (The guy next door and I have woodchuck problems for 25yrs) I went and got my 22, shot him facing me. flipped him over, he got up, I had no more 22's, I had a pellet, hit him in the neck, he got up again, no more pellets, hit him with a bb, (LOL) , he then went under my shed, I called the guy next door and told him to keep his kids away from the shed, then I saw the woodchuck next to the shed, and then a arrow went thru it, the guy next door shot it, it got up and danced around to try to get the arrow out, then fell over dead, got up again and tried to get the arrow out, again fell over, and got up 3rd time again, pulled the arrow (a 4 blade razor tip) out and the 4 of us watch it run of into the woods!

are you sure it wasnt a crackhead they are kinda hard to bring down

Crackheads are tougher to bring down! I am going to bring one down here, I'm just waiting till we sell our house.

This sounds like one of those spook movies!
That was one tuff woodchuck.

Around here they discontinued the second season on bears fifteen years ago. Now we got more than we know what to do with.
Coyotes and fox problems on the house-pets here too! I have to watch the dogs every time I let them out in the back yard as we can only have the 3' approved fence of the development.

I own many, but the 1911 is always loaded!

There was a picture of a moutain lion that was sent to the Des Moines register that was taken about 500 yds. away that the DNR says is a large house cat.
What they can't explain is the large foot prints that where made in the snow.

that kind stuff has been going on for years here, in the country large cats

I can relate to what youre saying. We are only at the 2600 ft. level, but with the heavy snow at higher elevations, all the critters are coming down for food.With us its only a winter time situation. Our neighborhood chicken / cat / dog /rabbit supply is slowly getting thinned out, and it's 18 miles to town but the coyotes are making an appearence.

We live in the suburbs of Austin with a ravene between sub-divisions.We are constantly dealing with Coyote and Wild Hogs.Last week a lady was unable to exit her car because a Coyote was circling her car. A neighbor approached the animal trying to get him to leave and the animal charged him and he was injured. A stupid thing to do IMO.

The city is trapping with little success.My neighbors yards are being torn up by the Hogs,they really do a job on a yard.There is no season on hunting the Hogs in Texas,but you can't fire a gun in the city.He bought a bowand arrow but has not had a kill so far.

We have had 1 Coyote in the back yard,and we have a 7 ft. privacy fence.We loose a lot of pets in the sub-division to the critters.

Pick up some 38+P Rounds the good ones are the Winchester Expansion Technology 130 gr . This will stop that big cat in his tracks . I have seen what one of them can do to a Deer . And Deer are a Lot bigger then you an I ! They are small Lions not big cats . As for Cyotes My Pit-Bull Great-Dane loves to hurt them .

I carry my keltec .380 always. It is in my pocket even if all I have on is a robe. A lovely little paperweight, it conceals well.

A little prepardness can go a long way. BUT.. if I actually was in fear of a predator ( regardless of how many legs ) then I would be packing my springfield .40 Not that it is so much more powerful compared to the .380, but the larger frame makes for greater accuracy, and it feels more confident.

someone was sayin they saw a moutain lion in MN. my thought yeah right but then it was mentioned on the local news. but around here in MN we have tons of cyotes once in a blue moon you see a wolf or a black bear. my uncle is a farmer an has lost afew calfs to wolfs or cyotes.
