I've been to Winslow Az. a few times on that highway! Great restaurant in Historic hotel there called La Posada.

i`m here every day but did not realize it had been a year since i posted .. i need help .. i have wanted a 5 speed in my pinto for years and have finally found one and began the process .. i was told the trans was from a 4,3 camaro .. the trans is indeed a camaro 5 speed but the flywheel that came with the purchase will not fit my 4.3 chevy motor ..the bellhousing will fit but not over a 168 tooth flywheel .. i need a 153 tooth flywheel for the 4.3 engine but can not locate one and dont know for sure if it is even available .. i made some clutch pedals from other parts and plan on using a cable even with the hydraulic stlye clutch arm .. i can work around that ..there are flywheels on ebay that are 153 tooth but not real clear on what they will fit .. it seems i dont know how to load a picture anymore ..
iv`e used up all my sick days at work .. can i call in dead ?

Have you called one of the big parts warehouses? Jegs or Summit I'm sure could offer you some direction. I tried some basic searches but the 153 tooth flywheel didn't come up.. I'd say a phone call to Tech services is in order. FWIW...

Nice, love the salute to Jackson Brown and his song, better known by the Eagles playing it! Personally like the original by Jackson Brown.

there is no such thing as used parts for a pinto so i had to create some .. i searched ebay for a similar clutch pedal setup and found a mid 90`s ford ranger to be the closest thing i could work with .. i did a bit of grinding/ bending and welding to get as near a pinto setup as i could .

My wife and I stopped there on the way back from picking up my 71 Camaro ( which Ryan owns now ). I remember slamming on the the brakes and whipping in there. It was a pretty cool thing to see. The layers of paint is incredible!

We basically did the same thing, when I seen what it was, Renee hit the brakes and off the exit we went. It was a once in a lifetime chance to visit it

I hope it runs as good as it looks. Tore it down and everything looked fine inside, so I just put new gaskets in it. You could still see the cross hatch marks inside the cylinder walls. But then it did have a rebuild tag on it so hopefully it’ll run fine. So some time in the past it was rebuilt. Now I need to finish the fine sanding on the valve cover before I polish it. Just one more piece of the puzzle down, at least I hope…..joe

price and ease of modifying had as much to do with it as anything .. there is a set of pinto pedals on ebay now for 275 $ plus 50 $ shipping ,, i did not give that much for the whole car 25 years ago .. i offered him 100 $ and he shot it down .. mustang pedals are 175 $ or so and looked very much different than the pinto set .. i was looking at the ebay set when i made the ranger set work .. the ranger set was 39 $ .. i now need to find out where to drill a new hole for the clutch throw out arm to pivot from ..i`m using a 5.0 mustang T5 arm and it rides on the opposite side .. and the chevy throw out bearing will not fit the ford arm very well so can i use a ford bearing on the chevy T5 .. ford has a T5 as well .. figuring out things is what makes it interesting .. i just dont want to do something very wrong ..
