the fellow i sold the pinto to for a while did not know how to do a brake stand burnout so he would rev the engine up in neutral and drop it in drive to spin the wheels .. he did it one time too many and stripped the spider gears . then i got the car back from him ... i could not find anything to fix it with at the time so i welded one spider gear to the pinion case .. i knew i did not want to weld both spiders as it would make the car difficult to drive .. recently the rear had begun making some popping and crackling noises so i figured it was ready to give up again .. a fellow i know has several mustang 2 8 inch rears that are a direct bolt in but he wont part with any . some the V6 pintos came with 8 inch rears as well but they are as rare as hens teeth ..
